Eagles Open 2021 with UAlbany

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's lacrosse team opens the 2021 season welcoming Albany to Chestnut Hill for a 4 p.m. matchup inside Fish Field House on Tuesday, Feb. 23.
Per BC COVID-19 policies the game is closed to fans, but will be streamed online on ACC Network Extra.
ABOUT THE EAGLES
BC returns to the field since going 4-3 in the shortened 2020 season. The Eagles last played March 11 against Hofstra, winning 20-10. BC features three Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-Americans in seniors Charlotte North and Cara Urbank and junior Rachel Hall. North was also a preseason All-ACC selection. North led BC with 35 points on 23 goals and 12 assists in her first year on The Heights. Urbank is arguably the most experienced player on BC's roster as a fifth-year senior and making three national championship game appearances. She enters 2021 with a career line of 95-32-127.
SERIES HISTORY
BC is 3-2 all-time against Albany. The first meeting came in 2001, with BC coming away with a 20-10 win at Albany. The Eagles are 2-1 on BC's home turf, with the most recent contest coming in 2019 with a BC 17-9 win. Albany's last win came in 2012, where they beat BC 16-12 in Albany.
IN THE CAGE
BC has lots of experience in goal heading into 2021. Junior Rachel Hall started all seven games last season, amassing a .458 save percentage and an 11.60 GAA. Senior Abbey Ngai was focal in BC's run to the NCAA title game, starting 18 of 21 games for the Eagles with a .475 save percentage and 10.20 GAA.
BC has depth in goal, with sophomore Kait Devir and freshman Maddy Manahan on the roster. Both Devir and Manahan hail from The Garden State, but Manahan attended IMG Academy in Florida.
TEXAS TAKEOVER
Both Charlotte North and Rachel Hall are resident Texans on the BC roster. North hails from Dallas, Texas and led BC in scoring last season, tallying 23 goals and 12 assists for 35 points. The senior transferred to BC from Duke in 2019 and led the Blue Devils in scoring through both of her seasons in Durham, capping her sophomore campaign with the third-best scoring output in the country (82 g., 4.32 gpg., 105 pts.). She is an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American and a Preseason All-ACC selection.
Hall comes to BC from Oregon, where she led the country in saves, grabbing 246 through just 18 games played. She hails from Cypress, Texas, starting all seven games last year with a .458 save percentage. Her rookie season earned her Pac-12 Freshman of the Year honors and a spot on the 2019 Pac-12 All-Tournament Team. The Cypress, Texas native most recently won gold with the U19 USA National Team, earning placement on the All-World Team at the 2019 World Cup Tournament.
NEW EAGLES FLY IN
The Eagles welcome 11 new faces to make up the No. 6 class in the country in 2020.
The class saw three named in the 2020 Inside Lacrosse 'Power 100' with an additional two 'On the Rise'. Headlining the class is middie Belle Smith (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.), who ranks as the No. 2 recruit and No. 1 middie in the nation. Andrea Reynolds (Sudbury, Mass.) just missed the top-10, ranking No. 11, while Annabelle Hasselbeck (Weston, Mass.) is the No. 38 ranked recruit. Just missing the 'Power 100' are middie's Katie Riehl (Cockeysville, Md.) and Hunter Roman (Saint James, N.Y.). Rounding out the class is Lizzie O'Neill (Chatham, N.Y.), Kayla Martello (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), Sydney Scales (Walpole, Mass.), Maddy Manahan (Morristown, N.J.), Erin Walsh (Franklin, Mass.) and Kit Arrix (Darien, Conn.).
