Eagles Back in Action This Weekend

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College fencing team will be back in action this weekend, hosting Sacred Heart on Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Margot Connell Recreation Center. It marks the lone scheduled home competition for the Eagles.
All home 2020 BC athletics events will be closed to the public due to Covid-19 protocols.

LAST TIME OUT
-The Eagles opened up their season two weeks ago, competing at St. John's on Saturday, Feb. 6.
-On the women's side, the Eagles picked up wins in both rounds of the foil to lead BC to an overall 17-10 defeat of SJU.
-The men earned a pair of 5-4 wins in foil and epee in the second round.
-In the first collegiate competition of their careers, both Clayton Reid and Inigo Rivera had three bout wins …. Rivera went 3-3 in sabre while Reid was 3-3 in foil.
-Will Smith had a 4-2 record in epee on the day while Bin Huang posted a 3-3- mark in foil.
-Laura Boden picked up a win in epee against the Red Storm's Nicole Gavriko, who earned an NCAA Championship bid last season by winning bronze at the Northeast Regionals.

THE OPPONENT
-On the women's side, Sacred Heart went 4-0 against Drew University last weekend, picking up 15-12, 15-12, 15-12 and 16-11 victories
-The Pioneers saw Tia Petrides go 10-0 in foil on the day while Sophie Witek was 12-0 in sabre.
-On the men's side, the Pioneers went 2-3 on the day, falling 15-12, 17-10 and 16-11 while picking up a pair of 17-10 wins
