USFCA Recognizes Four Eagles

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College fencing team had four fencers recognized by the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) on Thursday when the organization released its 2019-20 awards.

Each year the USFCA recognizes the outstanding work of the fencing student-athletes by naming the All-Americans based on their achievements in the national championship, however, this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic the championships were canceled. All-American honors were based on each fencer's overall body of work through the season competitions and NCAA Regionals.

Bin Huang was named a Second Team All-American honoree in men's foil while Spencer Kuldell earned All-American Honorable Mention honors in men's sabre. Rylie Rueda was named a Second Team All-American in women's epee.

Also, the USFCA has decided to create new postseason recognition awards to honor fencing student-athletes for their performances at NCAA Regionals.

Kuldell earned Honorable Mention All-Northeast Region honors in men's sabre. In women's epee, Rueda was a First Team All-Northeast Team member while Cosima Martus earned honorable mention honoree.
