March 31, 2020 | Men's Hockey
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Rising junior forward Marc McLaughlin has been elected the captain of Boston College men's hockey for the 2020-21 season. McLaughlin takes over the captaincy from senior David Cotton, who recently signed with the Carolina Hurricanes.
Rising seniors Logan Hutsko and Michael Karow along with rising junior Patrick Giles were voted as the team's three assistant captains.
McLaughlin was named the runner-up for the Gladiator Custom Mouthguards Hockey East Best Defensive Forward award as a sophomore. He posted five goals and seven assists for 12 points while skating in all 34 games this season for the Eagles.
The North Billerica native set a new career-high with four points in an 8-3 win over Vermont on Jan. 4 and added his first career multi-goal game in a 10-1 victory over Northeastern on Feb. 21. He scored a pair of shorthanded goals, which was tied for second in Hockey East.
Hutsko ranked seventh in the country in goals per game as a junior with 19 in 30 games. He had at least one point in all but four games for the Eagles, including a career-high 12-game scoring streak.
Karow suited up for all 34 contents on the Boston College blueline, posting four assists and a plus-10 rating.
Giles matched McLaughlin with a pair of shorthanded goals and closed the year with five points in 10 games. The forward missed the season's first nine games and 15 of the final 17 due to injury.
