Beanpot On Tap for Eagles

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College fencing team will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 12 when it hosts the Beanpot at the Margot Connell Recreation Center. The Eagles will face Brandeis, Harvard and MIT in the annual tournament.

The 2019 Beanpot
-At the 2019 edition of the Beanpot, which was held at Brandeis, both the men's and women's squads went 2-1 to earn second place.
-The men's team picked up wins over MIT and Brandeis while falling to the second-ranked Crimson.
-On the women's side, the Eagles topped MIT and Brandeis but fell to fifth-ranked Harvard.

The Opponents
-The Judges traveled south last weekend to take aprt in the Duke Invitational … the women's side dropped matches to No.3 Notre Dame, No. 6 Penn State, No. 5 Temple, Duke and North Carolina … the men's team went 1-4, picking up a win over Johns Hopkins while falling to No. 5 Notre Dame, No. 4 Penn State, No. 10 Duke and North Carolina.
-The second-ranked Harvard men's team is coming off its 11th Ivy League Championship this past weekend and is riding a seven-match winning streak … the No. 2 Crimson defeated MIT, BC and Brandeis earlier this year … the women's team, which has won 14 consecutive Beanpot titles, is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Ivy League Championships this past weekend.
-MIT also competed at the Duke Invitational last weekend, falling to UNC, Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame, Duke and Penn State … the women's team lost to Penn State, UNC, Notre Dame, Temple and Duke.

Last Time Out
-The Eagles were last in action at the Eric Sollee Invitational at Brandeis on Saturday, Feb. 1.
-Both the men's and women's teams went 4-2 at the competition.

Up Next
Boston College will return to action at the ACC Championships, which are being held at Notre Dame on Saturday, Feb. 22 and Sunday, Feb. 23.
