
Football Holds Annual Senior Banquet

Max Richardson presented the Scanlan Award during the virtual event
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Graduate student linebacker Max Richardson was presented with the Scanlan Award at the annual senior awards banquet Saturday afternoon via Zoom. Richardson received Boston College's highest football honor given to the senior who best embodies the ideals of Tom Scanlan, class of 1920.

A courageous and inspiring fullback who played both offense and defense for the Eagle teams of 1916, 1917, and 1919, forgoing the 1918 season for military service in World War I, Thomas F. Scanlan was a popular student-athlete and beloved alumnus, who was elected Varsity Club President for five consecutive years (1942-1946). He was inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall of Fame in 1972.

Richardson finished second on the team and fourth in the ACC with 99 tackles. The Georgia native had a team-leading 8.0 TFL, including career-best 3.5 sacks. He finished with double-digit tackle totals in five of 10 ACC games this season.

Junior tight end Hunter Long earned the William J. Flynn award as the team's most valuable player. A John Mackey Award semifinalist, Long leads all tight ends nationally with 57 receptions and ranks 12th nationally among all players in receptions. He leads all tight ends nationally with 685 receiving yards and ranks 25th nationally among all players. He is eighth nationally among all tight ends with five touchdown receptions.

Graduate student defensive back Mike Palmer was given the Jay McGillis Scholarship Award, given to the defensive back that best exemplifies the personal qualities of team dedication and leadership by example, an extraordinary competitive spirit and a personal concern for family, friends and teammates. Palmer started all 11 games as a junior he played in last season and was third on the team with 76 tackles. In 2020, the New York native has battled injury, but has still managed to play in seven games and register 25 tackles.

Senior linebacker Thomas Hovsepian was awarded the Paul Cavanagh Award, given to the player who's collective on and off the field accomplishments speaks volumes about his commitment to balance, a level-headed outlook on life, and perspective on volunteerism, ethics and the community.

Graduate student defensive tackle Luc Bequette was presented with the Russ Joyner Award for the most outstanding defensive lineman. A transfer from Cal who joined the program in September, Bequette made an immediate impact in the starting lineup. He played in all 11 games with 18 tackles, 3.0 tackles-for-loss and one sack.

Junior linebacker Isaiah McDuffie received the Gridiron Club Award as the student-athlete who displays the determination, enthusiasm, and spirit expected from a Boston College football player. McDuffie led BC and ranked third in the with 107 tackles in 2020. He ranked 29th nationally with 9.7 tackles per game. The Buffalo native had a career-best 16-tackle performance vs. No. 2 Notre Dame. The 16 tackles tied for second most by an ACC player all season.
Senior defensive end Reggie Terry was given the Loyalty Award, given to the individual who possesses an unwavering amount of support and allegiance to a long-term commitment.

Graduate student tight end Danny Dalton was the recipient of the Determination Award, given to the senior who works hard on and off the field to achieve their goals and maximize their abilities. Dalton battled back from off-season back surgery to play in nine games this season for the Eagles.

Graduate student linebacker John Lamot was presented with the Perseverance Award, given to the player who faces adversity head on and works relentlessly to overcome any obstacle placed in front of them and continually displays mental toughness. Lamot played through various injuries over his career and appeared in 46 career games at linebacker for the Eagles. He finished his career with 197 tackles, 12.5 tackles-for-loss and three sacks.

Graduate student kicker Aaron Boumerhi was the recipient of the Special Teams Award. The award is to recognize outstanding play on special teams and Boumerhi was one of the most dependable players on special teams in 2020. He connected on 16-of-20 field goal attempts, the best showing by a BC kicker since 2013.
