
Eagles Fall on the Road at Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Boston College women's hockey team fell to Providence College, 3-2, on Saturday afternoon at Schneider Arena.
Providence took a 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the game, a score that would hold until Hadley Hartmetz put home her first of the year five minutes into the second period. Savannah Norcross then potted her third of the season with 43 seconds to go in the middle frame. But it took Providence just 48 seconds into the third period to even things up and then Lauren DeBlois scored the game-winner midway through the final frame.
Kelly Pickreign finished with 17 saves for the Eagles while Sandra Abstreiter made 32 saves for Providence. BC went 0-for-1 on the advantage while Providence was 1-for-4. The Eagles had the 34-20 lead in shots on goal.

- 1st, 1:24 | Lindsay Bochna carried the puck over the blue line on the left wing, drove to the net and slipped a backhand shot through Pickreign's legs.
- 2nd, 5:14 | Caroline Goffredo tracked the puck down in the right corner and worked it up the wall to Hannah Bilka who slid a pass to Hartmetz at the right point. In one motion, Hartmetz collected it and found a shooting lane for a long wrister that Abstreiter was unable to squeeze.
- 2nd, 19:21 | From the right circle, Gaby Roy wristed a shot on frame that Abstreiter saved but Kelly Browne got her stick on the rebound for a follow-up shot that trickled to the left post and Norcross was there to backhand it home.
- 3rd, 00:48 | Sara Hjalmarsson took a shot from the right dot that deflected back to her and she squeezed her own rebound between Pickreign's glove and the post.
- 3rd, 13:20 | On the power-play, Lauren DeBlois skated the puck to the top of the circle and sent a slap shot into the upper right corner of the net.
- BC now holds a 38-40-3 record in the all-time series with Providence … the Eagles are 17-20-1 against the Friars at Schneider Arena … head coach Katie Crowley is 31-9-3 all-time against Providence.
- Savannah Norcross recorded her third goal of the season … the junior has now scored a goal in three consecutive games.
- Hadley Hartmetz recorded her first goal of the season … Hartmetz went on to finish the game with six shots on goal.
- The Eagles now have eight different goal scorers through the first four games of the season.
- Norcross, Gaby Roy and Kelly Browne each extended their point streaks to four games.
- Hannah Bilka led the Eagles with seven shots on goal … Bilka added her first assist of the season.
