Eagles Top Mississippi State on the Road

Olivia Vaughn and Emily Langenderfer score to give BC its first-ever win over a current SEC school.
STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Boston College women's soccer team used second half goals from Olivia Vaughn and Emily Langenderfer to top Mississippi State, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at MSU Soccer Field.
Allie Augur made five saves for the clean sheet while Francesca Venezia and Jillian Jennings each added an assist.
Augur came up big midway through the first half, making three saves in the span of two minutes to keep the Bulldogs off the board and send the teams into halftime in a scoreless tie. Vaughn broke through for BC in the 67th minute before Langenderfer added the insurance goal in the 76th. Katie Moore (5-3-0) finished with four saves for the Bulldogs to Augur's (5-0-1) five.
Boston College will now turn its attention to conference play, opening up ACC play at Florida State on Thursday, Sept. 19.

SCORING
- 67' | Jillian Jennings sent the ball back inside the 18-yard box, and Vaughn streaked through on the right side to reach the ball unmarked. The senior placed a right-footed shot in between the charging Moore's left side and the right post.
- 76' | Venezia faked her defender and got around into the box to fire a shot back to the right post. Moore made the initial diving save but Langenderfer was there to put the rebound home a few feet off the goal line.
- Boston College is now 1-0-0 in the all-time series with Mississippi State.
- The win marked the program's first over current a SEC team … BC is now 1-2-0 against current teams from the SEC.
- Olivia Vaughn's goal pushed her past 50 career points to 51 on 23 goals and five assists … she had started the game sitting on 49 points (22g, 5a).
- This was Allie Augur's second consecutive game with five saves … the freshman earned her third solo shutout of the season.
- With Emily Langenderfer's goal, the Eagles now have nine different goal scorers on the year … BC now also has 12 players with multiple points.
- The Eagles held the 6-5 edge in shots on goal and a 9-6 edge in corner kicks.
