
Eagles’ Offense Explodes for 6-2 Win over Northeastern

NEWTON, Mass. – With five different goal scorers, the Boston College field hockey team (3-3) defeated Northeastern (3-2), 6-2, at the BC Field Hockey Complex in Newton, Massachusetts on Sunday.
Sky Caron led the way for BC, scoring two goals on four shots, while Charlotte Von Huelsen, Nell Webber, Fusine Govaert and Margo Carlin each added goals of their own.
Von Huelsen, Webber and Brigid Wood all added assists on the day.
In net, Jonna Kennedy surrendered one goal in her 30 minutes in net, while Sarah Dwyer made two saves while giving up one goal in the second half.
Govaert opened the scoring for the Eagles just 6:37 into the game, putting home a rebound off a shot by Wood. Then, just three minutes later, Sky Caron buried her first goal of the game, scoring off a penalty corner on a pass from Wood.
Webber then added her goal of the game, 5:22 into the second period, scoring off a centered pass from Von Huelsen.
Carlin opened the Eagles' scoring in the second half 9:53 into the third period, scoring on a breakaway that just squeaked by the Northeastern goalkeeper. Just over a minute later, Northeastern would score their first goal of the game. 38 seconds later, Von Huelsen scored her lone goal of the game on a beautiful reverse shot into the upper corner of the goal.
Northeastern then scored to open the fourth period before Caron would put home a penalty stroke to extend the lead to 6-2.
