
Eagles Welcome Dartmouth, Northeastern for Non-Conference Matchup

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College field hockey team continues its season with a pair of non-conference games, first welcoming Dartmouth to Newton on Friday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. Then, Northeastern drives across town for a game on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m.

The Last Matchup
Boston College and Dartmouth haven't seen the field against each other since 2011, when the Eagles escaped with a 6-4 win in New Hampshire.

BC last played Northeastern in 2017, coming away with a 2-1 victory at the Newton Field Hockey Complex. Fusine Govaert scored the Eagles' first goal of the game as it was incredibly even throughout the match. Both teams took 11 shots, with the Huskies gaining the edge in shots on goal - seven to four.

Boston College traveled to Chicago to compete against a pair of nationally ranked teams in the Big 10/ACC Cup. They opened the weekend against Maryland, losing 3-1 to the second-ranked team. Jaime Natale scored the Eagles' lone goal on the afternoon, while Jonna Kennedy started in net.

The Eagles then faced off against No. 15 Northwestern, falling 3-2. The Wildcats opened the scoring in the first period, before Margo Carlin and Fusine Govaert scored back-to-back goals. Northwestern would then score two in the fourth to take the lead and the game.

Offensively, Dartmouth is led by Carmen Braceres, who has scored the Big Green's only goal of the year. In two games, Dartmouth has seven total shots with three on goal.

Defensively, Sara Falkson has the team's only defensive save, while Isabella Santucci is the only goalkeeper to see time in net for Dartmouth. Santucci has made 17 saves on 26 shots on goal this season.

Northeastern opened the season with three-straight wins against unranked teams, before falling to No. 23 Boston University in overtime, 5-4. Their offense has been buzzing to start the year, scoring at least three goals in every game so far this season.

A pair of freshmen, Lauren Rowe and Alli Meehan, lead the offensive attack for the Huskies, scoring 13 and 11 points, respectively. Five Huskies are averaging more than a point per game.

Defensively, Julia Gluyas has led the charge, starting all four games for Northeastern. She has made 19 saves for a .704 save percentage while only giving up eight goals.

Preseason Honors
Junior Fusine Govaert was honored as a preseason All-ACC team member. The junior is a key player for the Eagles, playing in the central midfield. She's coming off a 2018 season where she scored five goals to go along with one assist on 50 total shots. Govaert played in all 19 games last season, starting 15.

Carlin's Calling
Freshman Margo Carlin is off to a hot start in the maroon and gold, scoring three goals in her first four career games. Carlin opened the season with the game-winning goal against Providence before scoring her second against Fairfield the next game. The forward then added her third against No. 15 Northwestern this past Sunday.
