
Sahagun's Late Goal Lifts Eagles Over Holy Cross, 3-2

Eagles improve to 4-0 with win over Crusaders
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Boston College men's soccer team improved to 4-0-0 with a hard fought 3-2 victory over Holy Cross (0-3-0) on Tuesday night at Linda Johnson Smith Stadium in a non-conference match.
BC's record of 4-0-0 marks the first unbeaten start for the program through four games since the Eagles started 2014 season 3-0-1.
The Eagles opened the scoring, with freshman Michael Suski finding the back of the net in the 16th minute.
Holy Cross Max Krause tied the game in the 56th minute on a one-timer from 24 yards out which sailed just under the crossbar.
Freshman Amos Shapiro-Thompson, who had two shots on goal in the match, stunned the Crusader crowd with a goal in the 60th minute. Shapiro-Thompson placed a ball just under the crossbar after crossing up a Holy Cross defender with his footwork.
BC's lead did not last long as Holy Cross tied the match, 2-2, when Krause scored off a set piece in the 74th minute.
Jesus Sahagun tallied the game-winner for the Eagles in the 83rd minute on a volley over the Crusader goalkeeper from just outside the box.

• 16' | BC - Jesus Sahagun won a ball at midfield and found Michael Suski alone at the top of the box. The freshman forward cut the ball to the goal and sent the ball to the far post for a 1-0 lead.
• 56' | HC – Max Krause one-timed a cross from Bobby Manella into the near post, just inside the crossbar to tie the game.
• 60' | BC - Shapiro-Thompson ripped a shot from outside the box that was punched out by the Holy Cross goalkeeper Bobby Hurstak. Shapiro-Thompson received the ball at the top of the box to the left of the keeper. He turned and ripped a shot just inside the crossbar for his third goal of the season.
• 74' | HC – Krause tallied his second of the night on a set piece from 24 yards out. Krause shot went by the Eagles defensive wall into the near post to tie the match at 2-2.
• 83' | BC – The Eagles won the ball in the corner to the left of the Holy Cross goalkeeper. Lasse Lehmann sent a ball to the middle of the box, where freshman Stefan Sigurdarson got a touch on it. Sophomore Jesus Sahagun volleyed the ball over an outstretched goalkeeper for the go-ahead goal.

• The Eagles had eight corner kicks in the game, while Holy Cross managed two.
• Sophomore Ivan Postolka earned his first start of the season. He played in the back for the full 90 minutes in his debut.
• Ian Buehler made his season debut. He played 13 minutes in the first half and started the second. He played 25 minutes in the match.
