Army, Holy Cross and UConn added to future schedules
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – William V. Campbell Director of Athletics Martin Jarmond announced the addition of several future non-conference football games for Boston College on Wednesday. The Eagles will play regional foes Holy Cross, Connecticut and Army in future non-conference matchups.
Â
Boston College and Army will resume a series that began in 1917 with a home-and-home series beginning in 2023. The Eagles are scheduled to play at Michie Stadium in West Point on Oct. 7, 2023 while Army makes the return trip to Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill on Sept. 23, 2028.
Â
All-time, BC leads the all-time series 25-13 against Army. The two teams have not met since BC's 48-27 win over the Black Knights in 2013 at Alumni Stadium.
Â
Holy Cross returns to Alumni Stadium on Sept. 9, 2023 after the two local rivals renewed a series last season for the first time since 1986.
The Crusaders also play at BC on Sept. 5, 2020 as part of an original two-game series scheduled in 2014.
The 2018 contest was the first football meeting between the Eagles and Crusaders since a 56-26 BC victory on Nov. 22, 1986 in Worcester, Mass. Boston College has faced Holy Cross more than any opponent in school history. BC leads the all-time series between the two institutions, 49-31-3.
For many years, the Boston College-Holy Cross rivalry was played at the end of the regular season, providing a "cap" for the New England college football schedule. Last season, BC captured a 62-14 victory over Holy Cross in Chestnut Hill.
UConn and Boston College resume a home-and-home series starting on Oct. 29, 2022 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn. The Huskies make the return trip to the Heights on Oct. 28, 2023.
Â
The two New England schools have met 14 times in series history with BC holding a 12-0-2 series lead. The last time the two schools met, BC captured a 39-16 victory over UConn at Fenway Park in 2017.
