
Eagles Win In Preseason Match vs. Providence

Kellett, Suski & Mieles score in 3-1 win.
The Boston College men's soccer team hosted Providence in the first preseason game of the 2019 season. The Eagles defeated the Friars, 3-1, behind two second half goals on Tuesday night at the Newton Soccer Field.
BC will open the 2019 season against Quinnipiac on Thursday, August 29 at the Newton Soccer Field (2:30 p.m. start time). Admission is free. Fans can also watch the game on the new ACC Network.
Scoring
- Senior Joe Kellett put Boston College up 1-0 in the first half on a penalty kick. Providence tied the match early in the second half on a penalty kick.
- The Eagles went up minutes later on a goal by freshman Mike Suski. BC's lead extended on a great ball from midfielder Lasse Lehmann to sophomore Alex Mieles. The Eagles second-year midfielder ran onto the ball and one-timed it for a 3-1 BC lead.
- Suski almost had his second of the night with 20 minutes to play. The Eagles speedy forward ran onto a long ball to midfield that was mishandled by the Providence defense. Suski got a touch on the ball but not enough pace to place it by the Friars goalkeeper.
Game Notes
- Boston College started two freshmen – Amos Shapiro-Thompson up front and goalkeeper Giacomo Piccardo.
- The other starters were junior David Longo, sophomore Tyshawn Rose and senior Heidar Aegisson and sophomore Gregorio Barilla in the back. Sophomore Jesus Sahagun, sophomore Kristofer Konradsson, senior Joe Kellett and senior Lasse Lehmann started in the midfield. Shapiro-Thompson and senior Adam French were up front.
- Freshman Mike Suski played the final five minutes of the first half and started the second half alongside fellow rookie Shapiro-Thompson up front.
- Alex Mieles played the end of the first half and half of the second.
- With 15 minutes to play, junior Antonio Chavez Borrelli entered the game in goal.
