Brown Selected to Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List

Award presented annually to the top senior or fourth-year junior QB by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation.
BALTIMORE, Md. – Boston College redshirt-junior quarterback Anthony Brown (Cliffwood, N.J.) was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list on Monday. The award is presented annually to the top senior or fourth-year junior quarterback set to graduate with their class by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation.

Brown returned from a knee injury to start at quarterback in all 12 games for BC in 2018. He finished the year with 2,121 passing yards and 20 touchdowns; the second-most by a sophomore QB in BC history. Brown was twice named the ACC Quarterback of the Week. First, following a 304-yard, five-touchdown win at Wake Forest, when he was named one of eight Manning Award Stars of the Week and a Davey O'Brien Award "Great 8" honoree after becoming the first BC quarterback to pass for 300 yards and five touchdowns since Matt Ryan (2007) and the first to reach both feats without throwing an interception since Doug Flutie (1984).

In 22 career games, Brown has thrown for 3,488 yards and 31 touchdowns. His completion percentage jumped from 51.9 to 55.4 from 2017 to 2018 and yards per attempt increased from 5.29 to 7.44, which ranked sixth in the ACC. Brown was also top-six in the league in passing efficiency (134.8) and yards per completion (13.42), which ranked first in the ACC.

The Eagles open the 2019 season at home on Saturday, Aug. 31 against ACC rival Virginia Tech. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. on ACC Network, which launches on Thursday, Aug. 22.
