Two Eagles Named to John Mackey Award Watch List

Jake Burt and Hunter Long on the watch list for the nation's best TE award
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Friends of John Mackey have released the 2019 John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List. Given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end, the award recipient is selected by vote of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee and the 2019 Mackey Award recipient will be announced on December 11 and then presented live on December 12 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show on ESPNU.
Boston College graduate tight end Jake Burt and redshirt sophomore tight end Hunter Long were named to the watch list.
Burt appeared in 10 games as a junior and totaled six receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown.

Long caught four passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns as a redshirt freshman in 2018 playing behind John Mackey semifinalist and All-ACC tight end Tommy Sweeney.
NFL Hall of Fame member John Mackey is considered to be the best to have played the tight end position. A tight end by whom all others are measured, Mackey was a role model on and off the field as demonstrated by his Super Bowl Championship, his commitment to community and his place in history as the first President of the NFLPA.
