Pitt takes final game vs. Eagles, 7-0
PITTSBURGH, Pa. -Â The Boston College softball team fell to Pittsburgh, 7-0, on at Vartabedian Field in the final game of the season. Boston College dropped to 18-35 and 4-20 in the ACC, while Pittsburgh is now 14-41 and 7-17 in the conference.
After yesterday's wild 15-12 game, Boston College did not score despite six hits in the game. The Eagles left six runners on base and had two fielding errors. Pittsburgh finished with seven hits, two more home runs and zero errors.
BC freshman Ellie Mataya had two hits, while Jules Trevino, Lexi DiEmmanuele, Emme Martinez and Allyson Moore all had a hit. Sophomore CC Cook took the loss in her fourth start of the season. She gave up three runs on two hits in three innings pitched. Freshman Susannah Anderson pitched two innings and gave up four runs on four hits, while freshman Camryn Dolby pitched one inning and struck out one.
Pittsburgh used the pitcher by committee theory as Taylor Rahach pitched the first two innings, followed by Brittany Knight, Abby Edwards and the final inning for Sarah Dawson. Rahach earned the win.
The Panthers put three on the board in the second inning behind a three-run home run from Morgan Batesole. Knight hit a two-run home run to left in the fourth to increase the lead to 5-0. The final two runs were scored in the fifth inning on three hits.
Team Notes
- Senior Lexi DiEmmanuele finished the season with the hit in the final six games. She had a stolen base today for 22 this season and a program career-high 103 steals. She also leaves the Heights as the all-time leader in career-triples with 14. DiEmmanuele also owns the record for most triples in a single season with six this season. She hit a team-high .352, a single season personal career-high.
- Senior Allyson Moore hit a number of single season highs this season. She batted a career-high .287 with a career-high in hits (35), doubles (8), RBI (18) and total bases (43). With a hit today, Moore had reached on base in the final five games of the season.
- Sophomore Emme Martinez finished her campaign on a four-game hit stream. She also registered a team-high seven multiple-RBI games. Martinez finished the season hitting .321 with 50 hits, nine doubles and a team-high 24 RBI.
