Acacia Walker-Weinstein Agrees to New Contract

She has led the Eagles to three consecutive national championship appearances
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – William V. Campbell Director of Athletics Martin Jarmond has announced that Boston College women's lacrosse head coach Acacia Walker-Weinstein has agreed to a new contract. Walker-Weinstein just completed her seventh season as head coach at the Heights and has led the Eagles to three consecutive appearances in the national championship game.
Â
"My plan is to keep Acacia here at Boston College for a long time and see her continue leading our championship-level program she and her staff have built here," said Jarmond. "I am fortunate to work alongside Acacia and I felt it was important to commit more resources to continue our competitive excellence. The future is bright for our women's lacrosse program with Acacia at the helm."
Â
Boston College became the fifth program in women's lacrosse history to appear in three consecutive national championship games in 2019. The Eagles have gone 44-4 over the last two seasons, sharing the school record for single-season victories with 22 each season.
Â
During that two-year run, BC has won the ACC regular season championship both seasons, going a perfect 14-0 in ACC play.
Â
"I am so excited to continue leading this special program here at Boston College," said Walker-Weinstein. "The support we have received from Martin and the athletic department has been tremendous as we continue to build a program that competes every year for trophies. BC provides an opportunity to enhance character, is a great place to pursue big dreams and play lacrosse at the most elite level in the nation. Combined with a world-class education, BC is a destination for greatness for all future lacrosse student-athletes and I could not be more proud to continue to lead this special program."
Â
Jarmond has made several program enhancements thanks to the generous support of Flynn Fund donors. The enhancements include more allocated resources for the coaching staff, recruiting and additional program resources to directly benefit student-athletes.
Â
"Being able to keep our talented coaching staff together was so important to me," added Walker-Weinstein. "Jen and Kayla have been two critical components to our program's success."
Â
The 2017 Division I Intercollegiate Lacrosse Coaches Association National Coach of the Year, Walker-Weinstein has developed numerous All-Americans during her tenure at BC, including the program's first Tewaaraton Award recipient in Sam Apuzzo in 2018. Apuzzo was a two-time ACC Attacker of the Year while Dempsey Arsenault became BC's first ACC Midfielder of the Year following a standout senior season in 2019.
