
Ritchie, Burke to Compete at NCAA East Prelims

Competition begins on May 23 in Jacksonville, Fla.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Ian Ritchie and Sean Burke have been selected to compete in the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary Championship, held May 23-25 at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. Ritchie is among the field of 48 for the 1,500m run, while Burke is in the field of both the 5,000m and 10,000m.
On Thursday, May 23, the opening round of the 1,500m and finals of the 10,000m will be contested. Two days later - on Saturday, May 25 - the finals of the 1,500m and 5,000m will take to the track. Ritchie's top time of the season - 3:44.34, set last week at the ACC Championship - has him seeded 14th. Burke's 13:59.61 for 5,000m is the 19th-fastest seed time, while his 29:11.68 performance at 10,000m ranks him 18th. Kerr added, "Burke has been consistently performing throughout the entire year and has gained exceptional versatility, succeeding in everything from the mile to 10,000m. Ritchie has been ascending every week and still looks like he has more in the tank. We're excited to hit the road next wee with both athletes ready to do whatever it takes on race day."
The top 12 in each individual event at both the East and West preliminary rounds advance to the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship, which will be held from June 5-8 in Austin, Texas.
