
No. 1 Eagles Host No. 13 Blue Devils for Red Bandana Game

The event will honor Welles Crowther and the 40th anniversary of BC Lacrosse
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The No. 1 Boston College women's lacrosse team is set to host No. 13 Duke in an ACC clash in Newton on Saturday. The game will feature ceremonies honoring the 40th anniversary of BC Lacrosse, BC Lacrosse alumni and Welles Crowther in the annual Red Bandana Game. First draw is set for noon and will be featured on the ACC Network Extra.
The Eagles are coming off of yet another win over a ranked opponent, most recently taking down No. 5 Notre Dame in Newton with a score of 13-9. Sam Apuzzo and Cara Urbank led the effort with three goals each while sophomore goalkeeper Abbey Ngai held up with a 14-save performance, matching her career-best. Kenzie Kent led all point-scorers with six, coming off of two goals and four assists.
Apuzzo currently leads the nation in goals (62), goals per game (4.77), and points (80) while Kent leads in assists (48) and assists per game (3.69). The matchup with Duke will feature the No. 2 goal and point scorer in the nation behind Apuzzo - Charlotte North, who has tallied 56 goals and 75 points this season. Ngai holds the fifth-best spot in the nation in save percentage, racking up a .531 tally over the season.
The Eagles and Blue Devils have met 17 times in series history, dating back to March 7, 1997 when Duke found the win with a close 7-6 final score. The Blue Devils hold a 14-3 all-time record over the Eagles, despite the Eagles routing the conference foe with an 18-8 score last season. Dempsey Arsenault led the way to the win for BC with five goals.
Following Saturday's celebrations, the Eagles head to Blacksburg for their final road trip of the regular season. Boston College takes on Virginia Tech on Saturday, April 13 with first draw set for noon.Â
