No. 36 Eagles Close Regular Season at Notre Dame and No. 4 Duke

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – No. 36 Boston College women's tennis closes the ACC regular season this weekend on the road against Notre Dame on Friday (April 12) at 3:30 p.m. and No. 4 Duke on Sunday (April 14) at 10 a.m. The Eagles (15-7, 5-7 ACC) have won four straight matches and six of their last eight overall.
PILING UP THE WINS
Boston College's 15 wins are its most as a program since 2004. The Eagles have won at least 13 matches in four of the last six seasons. Dan Rubin featured the program's success on BCEagles.com earlier this week as BC chases its first NCAA Tournament berth since 1997. Boston College enters the weekend tied for ninth in the ACC standings with Syracuse at 5-7.Â
EAGLE RECAP
Boston College has won four straight matches, including three in ACC competition. The Eagles collected their second top-30 upset of the season last Friday by edging No. 27 Miami 4-3 on the Heights. In singles play, Natasha Irani has won four of her last five matches, three of which have come in straight sets. Rookie Laura Lopez has won four consecutive singles matchups in straight sets, including the clinching match against Miami as she defeated Ana Madcur of the Hurricanes.
SCOUTING NOTRE DAME
The Fighting Irish (11-11, 4-9 ACC) fell out of the ITA top-50 this week following a six-match losing streak that was finally snapped on Sunday against Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. Zoe Spence is the only ranked singles player for the Irish as she sits at No. 67. Spence and Cameron Corse are ranked 52nd nationally in doubles, while the teams of Corse / Bess Waldram (T-85th) and Ally Bojczuk / Waldram (89th) also rank inside the top-100. Last season, BC earned its first win against Notre Dame in 15 matches as Elene Tsokilauri clinched the match in No. 6 singles.
SCOUTING DUKE
The fourth-ranked Blue Devils (19-2, 11-1 ACC) feature two players in the ITA top-20 in Maria Mateas (13th) and Meible Chi (18th) with Kelly Chen in 32nd. The tandems of Kaitlyn McCarthy / Ellyse Hamlin and Chi / McCarthy (23rd) both rank inside the top-25 in doubles, while Hamlin / Chen rank 81st. Duke beat No. 9 NC State 5-2 at Ambler Tennis Stadium on Wednesday for its ninth straight victory. The Blue Devils won the doubles point for the eighth consecutive match. The Eagles haven't traveled to Durham since 2016 after hosting the Blue Devils the last two seasons.
