Eagles Add Gian Octa to 2026-27 Roster

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's tennis team has announced the addition of transfer Gian Octa to the 2026-27 roster.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Octa arrives on the Heights after two seasons at Missouri, where she established herself as one of the SEC's top singles players. She finished the 2025-26 season ranked No. 79 nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles rankings while leading the Tigers with a 19-9 singles record from the No. 1 position. Octa earned three SEC singles victories and highlighted her sophomore campaign with a straight-set win over No. 33-ranked Maria Garcia of Arkansas. She was also named to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
As a freshman in 2024-25, Octa posted a 17-14 singles record while competing throughout the No. 4, 5 and 6 positions in the lineup. She won seven of her first nine dual-match singles contests and added six doubles victories during the spring season.
Prior to Missouri, Octa was one of Canada's top junior players. She captured U18 Ontario Indoor and Outdoor Provincial singles and doubles championships and represented Canada at the U16 North America Rod Laver IC Junior Challenge in Nassau, Bahamas. Octa ranked among the top 10 in the Canadian Junior National Rankings from the U12 through U18 levels and reached multiple ITF junior finals, including a J4 Burlington singles and doubles final, a J5 Niagara doubles title and a J5 Medford singles semifinal. She also placed third at the 2022 U18 Fischer Outdoor Canadian Junior National Championships.
