Notre Dame Ends Eagles' Four-Match Winning Streak

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Notre Dame ended No. 36 Boston College's four-match winning streak on Friday night with a 4-1 victory in ACC play at Eck Tennis Pavilion. The Eagles fell to 15-8 (5-8 ACC), while the Fighting Irish (12-11, 5-9 ACC) secured a key conference win in its regular season finale.
Notre Dame clinched the doubles point to open the match with 6-2 and 6-1 victories in the No. 2 and 3 slots. The 72nd-ranked pair of Jackie Urbinati and Kylie Wilcox were on the brink of another doubles win as they led No. 85 Zoe Spence and Cameron Corse 5-2 in the No. 1 slot.
The Irish coasted in singles as No. 67 Spence and Corse earned straight set victories over Wilcox and Urbinati, who each moved up a slot in the absence of Yufei Long. Bess Waldram solidified the fourth and final point for Notre Dame in No. 5 singles as she beat Laura Lopez 6-2, 7-5.
Dasha Possokhova earned the team's lone point in No. 6 singles with a win over Zoe Taylor in straight sets.Â
The Eagles close the ACC regular season on Sunday (April 14) with a 10 a.m. match against No. 4 Duke in Durham, North Carolina.
