The Boston College baseball team opens ACC play against Atlantic Division rival Louisville Friday, March 8 at 6 p.m. The series at Jim Patterson Stadium comes on the back-end of an eight-game in 10-day stretch through the "Bluegrass State". All three games will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
ABOUT THE EAGLES
Boston College is 7-4 on the season after a 12-3 win at Kentucky on Wednesday. The Eagles are hitting .290, slugging .409 and own a .308 on-base percentage. Freshman right fielder Sal Frelick leads the team in hitting (.455), RBI (16), slugging (.727), OBP (.519) and stolen bases (11). Senior third baseman Jake Alu is second on the team with a .364 average. He has driven in 11 runs on three doubles and one home run. No. 8 Louisville is 8-3 and riding a four-game win streak. The Cardinals have played their last eight at home after a season-opening series loss to Connecticut in Lakeland, Fla. First baseman Logan Wyatt owns a .371 average and 1.178 OPS with 20 walks and 13 runs. Second baseman Lucas Dunn is batting .348 with a team-leading 15 runs scored to go with six steals. The Louisville pitching staff is holding opponents to a .176 average with a 2.21 ERA. Lefty Reid Detmers is 2-0 with a 0.45 ERA, 0.50 WHIP and 28 strikeouts in 20 innings pitched.
