Dickens Named To All-ACC Freshman Team

Eagles guard earns spot on the ACC Coaches All-Freshman team & the Blue Ribbon team.
GREENSBORO N.C. –  Boston College freshman guard Makayla Dickens was named to the All-ACC Freshman Team, as announced today by the conference office. Dickens earned a spot on the All-ACC Freshman Team, as well as the Blue Ribbon All-Freshman Team, which is voted on by media outlets in each ACC city.
Dickens is the seventh Eagle in program history to earn all-freshman team accolades.
The Virginia Beach, Virginia product is BC's second leading scorer (12.1 ppg.), second on the team in assists (4.0) and third in rebounding (5.2 rpg.). She is the third-highest among ACC rookies in scoring and is 11th overall in assists in the conference.
Dickens has posted double-figures in scoring in 19 games, including a career-high 25 points in the win over Duke. In the 92-90 victory, Dickens hit a game-tying shot to send the game into overtime. She then hit the game-winner at the buzzer.
She tallied three double-doubles – all against ACC teams. Her first came against NC State as she scored 17 points with 10 rebounds on Jan. 6. She followed it up with 11 points and 16 rebounds in the win at Wake Forest on Jan. 10. Her third double-double came when she scored 24 points with 10 boards in the overtime loss to Virginia on Feb. 7.
No. 13 seed Boston College will face No. 12 Virginia on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the first round of the ACC Tournament at Greensboro Coliseum. The game will be televised on ACC Network Extra.
