Eagles Host Three Straight Matches on the Heights

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College hosts three matches at the Flynn Recreation Complex this weekend, beginning with No. 30 NC State on Friday (March 22) at 4 p.m. The BC women's team plays No. 15 Florida State at 1 p.m., which may delay the start time. On Saturday (March 23), Sacred Heart visits Chestnut Hill for a 12 p.m. match and second-ranked Wake Forest travels to the Heights on Sunday (March 24) at 12 p.m.
SCOUTING NC STATE
The Wolfpack (11-6, 2-2 ACC) will play its first two ACC road matches this weekend, following the BC contest with a trip to Notre Dame on Sunday. Alexis Galarneau is the 18th-ranked singles player in the ITA rankings, while Galarneau and Michael Ogden sit 57th among doubles teams. NC State has been ranked nationally ever since entering the ITA poll on Jan. 30. Last year, the Wolfpack picked up a 5-2 win over the Eagles in Raleigh.
SCOUTING SACRED HEART
The Pioneers enter the weekend at 4-9 overall and 1-1 in the NEC. Sacred Heart lost 4-3 to Hofstra last Friday in a match played at Yale. SHU is 2-2 in its last four matches with wins over St. Francis Brooklyn in conference play and Siena away from home for its only road victory. William Boe-Wiegaard is in his second year as the head coach at SHU following a 13-year career on the ATP and ITF tours.
SCOUTING WAKE FOREST
The Demon Deacons are 19-3 overall and 5-0 in conference play, beating NC state 4-2 on the road on Wednesday. The Deacons have four players ranked among the top-80 individually by the ITA: Petros Chrysochos (3), Bar Botzer (22), Borna Gojo (50) and Melios Efstathiou (79). In doubles, Chrysochos and Botzer are tied for 26th nationally, while Borna Gojo and Alan Gadjiev sit 61st overall. Wake is at No. 14 Notre Dame today to begin its road trip.Â
