North Carolina Tops Eagles, 9-1, in Five Innings

The Eagles drop to 7-12 and 0-1 in the conference. North Carolina improved to 13-9 overall and 3-1 in the ACC. The two teams will play the second game of the three game series Saturday at 1 p.m.
Boston College struggled offensively as the lone hit was a third inning home run from sophomore Emme Martinez. She now has two home runs and 11th RBI. It was also the ninth consecutive game Boston College has hit a home run.
The Eagles made three errors and gave up eight earned runs. Susannah Anderson (3-5) took the loss as she went two innings, gave up three runs and two earned runs.
North Carolina scored six runs in the fifth inning to earn the win. Senior Kiani Ramsey hit a three-run triple with two out to give the Tar Heels an 8-1 lead. The Eagles made a pitching move, bringing in CC Cook. The sophomore surrendered a hit up the middle to score the ninth run and end the game.
Carolina was led offensively by Ramsey with the triple and three RBI, while redshirt sophomore Kristina Burkardt went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Junior Britney Picket picked up her eighth win with eight strikeouts to improve to 7-4 on the season.
UP NEXT
-The Eagles and Tar Heels will meet again on Saturday at 1 p.m. The final game of the series will be on Sunday at 1 p.m. Fans can view the games on the ACC Network.
- Boston College will host Quinnipiac in the home opener on Tuesday, March 14 at 4 p.m. It is the start of a nine-game home swing.
