
Eagles Drop OT Heartbreaker to Huskies in Hockey East Championship Game

Kali Flanagan scored with five seconds to play to force overtime but Kasidy Anderson won it for Northeastern in the first extra period.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 6/6 Boston College women's hockey team fell in overtime to the No. 3/3 Northeastern Huskies in the Hockey East Tournament Championship game, 3-2, on Sunday at Schneider Arena. BC will now await to find out its NCAA tournament fate on tonight's 9p.m. NCAA.com selection show.
Kali Flanagan and Daryl Watts were named to the 2019 Women's Hockey East All-Tournament Team.
Top seed Northeastern grabbed a 1-0 lead late in the first period before Caitrin Lonergan tied it up for BC early in the second. The Huskies scored with 5:07 to play in the third period and seemed to be holding on for the regulation win, but Kali Flanagan scored with 4.9 seconds to play in regulation. Kasidy Anderson then struck with 7:21 on the clock in the first overtime period to win it for Northeastern.
Maddy McArthur finished with 22 saves for BC while Aerin Frankel had 30 for Northeastern, with BC holding the 32-25 edge in shots on goal. BC went 1-for-2 on the power play while Northeastern was 0-for-3.

- 1st, 17:14 | 0-1, NU GOAL: Skylar Fontaine entered the zone and tried to toe drag into the middle of the slot. The puck dribbled off a BC skate and over to Andrea Renner at the right hashmarks for a one-timer inside the right post.
- 2nd, 2:31 | 1-1, BC GOAL: Lonergan started up the ice from right in front of McArthur, pushing the puck up to Watts to carry into the zone. Watts skated all the way to the left dot before centering a pass back to Lonergan for a redirection past Frankel.
- 3rd, 14:53 | 1-2, NU GOAL: On the power play, Alina Mueller worked towards the middle of the high slot and just seconds after BC was back to full strength, the freshman wristed a shot through traffic into the right side of the net.
- 3rd, 19:55 | 2-2, BC GOAL: With 7.4 seconds on the clock, Kelly Browne won the faceoff back and Watts touched it up to Flanagan. The senior took a one-timer that tucked in under the crossbar.
- OT, 12:39 | 2-3, NU GOAL: Kasidy Anderson skated down the right wing and fired a long shot from the circle that beat McArthur.
- The Eagles now have a mark of 3-5 in the Hockey East Tournament championship game ... BC is 1-1 in the title game as the No. 2 seed.
- Lindsay Agnew has recorded at least one shot on goal in every BC contest this season.
- The Eagles have outshot the opponent in 27 consecutive games.
- Boston College is now 45-39-7 all-time against Northeastern since elevating to Division I status for the 1995-95 season … the Eagles are 7-5-1 in neutral site meetings with the Huskies.
