Thomas Named Rookie of the Year as Eagles Collect Multiple Hockey East Honors

AMESBURY, Mass. – Hockey East announced its end-of-season awards for women's hockey, highlighted by Boston College freshman Ava Thomas being named the Hockey East Rookie of the Year. Emma Conner was also recognized as the league's Best Defensive Forward, while Grace Campbell captured the Hockey East Three Stars Award for the second consecutive season.
In total, Boston College placed two players on the Hockey East First Team, three players on the All-Rookie Team and one selection on the Third Team.
Thomas, who was also named to the Hockey East First Team and All-Rookie Team, leads the Eagles with 46 points on 19 goals and 27 assists this season. The freshman has emerged as one of the league's most dynamic offensive threats, leading Hockey East in points while pacing all rookies in scoring.
Conner earned the Best Defensive Forward Award after leading Hockey East with 75 blocked shots, a mark that ranks eighth nationally. The senior also carries a plus-11 rating.
Campbell secured the Hockey East Three Stars Award for the second straight season. The honor is presented to the player who accumulates the most points from first, second and third star selections throughout the year.
Madelyn Murphy joined Thomas as a First Team All-Hockey East selection after posting 21 points this season.
Thomas, Murphy and Maxim Tremblay were each named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. Tremblay recorded 22 points in her freshman campaign.
Olivia Maffeo earned Third Team All-Hockey East honors after tallying nine goals this season, including three on the power play.
