Sunday Rain Wipes Out Weekend Finale
February 17, 2019 | Baseball
BC led Jackson State 6-0 in the third when the rain returned.
JACKSON, Miss. -- The Boston College baseball team's Sunday finale at Jackson State was rained out at Braddy Field. The Eagles led 6-0 in the top of the third when the rain intensified and caused the two sides to agree to stop play.
Freshman right-hander Mason Pelio's official debut on the mound will wait another week. He pitched two innings and struck out two, but statistics from the contest will not count. Junior Jack Cunningham tripled and hit a home run, which was the final play of the game prior to its cancellation.
The Eagles are 3-0 on the season after winning their season opener for the second year in a row plus the sweep of a Saturday doubleahder. BC returns to action next Friday at Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach, Fla.
