Louisville Holds Off Boston College 5-2

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College dropped a tight ACC match against Louisville 5-2 on Friday night at the Flynn Recreation Complex. The Eagles fell to 4-4 (0-3 ACC) on the season.

After losing the doubles point, No. 1 and 2 singles players Derek Austin and Markus Nordby each earned victories against the Cardinals. Austin beat Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff in straight sets 7-5, 6-4, while Nordby came back to defeat Brandon Lancaster as he won the third set 7-5.

Max Mendelsohn won his first set against Federico Gomez 6-3, but lost the second set by the same score and eventually let the match slip in a third set tiebreaker. Nordby's victory cut Louisville's lead to 3-2, but Sergio Hernandez Ramirez sealed the UL win in straight sets against Conor Mullins in No. 5 singles.

The Eagles return to action next Tuesday (Feb. 19) with a road match against Brown at 5 p.m. in Providence.
