
Eagles, Huskies Set to Meet in Tuesday Night Top-10 Battle

No. 8 BC and No. 3 Northeastern will square off in the 41st Beanpot Tournament consolation game.
This will be the fourth meeting this season between BC and Northeastern, with the Huskies taking the Hockey East regular season series two games to one. Northeastern won the first two meetings - with both a 5-4 overtime win and 4-1 win coming at Matthews Arena - before BC defended home ice on Jan. 12 with a 7-5 win at Kelley Rink. The Eagles still lead the all-time series at 44-38-7 but both teams are 3-3-0 in the last six meetings.
The Eagles (20-10-0, 17-7-0 HEA) are coming off a 7-1 win over New Hampshire on Friday night that saw a four-point effort from Megan Keller and an 18-save, first-career-win performance from Kelly Pickreign. Keller, who was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, leads the team in points with 38 on 16 goals and 22 assists while Daryl Watts is second in points (16-17-33).
The Huskies (21-3-4, 19-2-2 HEA) clinched a share of the Hockey East regular season title on Friday and the No. 1 overall seed for the playoffs with a 6-3 win over Merrimack. Rookie Alina Mueller (16-25-41) continues to lead the team in points, while Kasidy Anderson has a team-high 17 goals.

BEANPOT HISTORY
• Boston College has appeared in all 41 editions of the Beanpot, playing the first 16 as a club program (1979-1994) and the last 25 as a varsity program (1995-present).
• The Eagles won their first Beanpot in 2006 and have won all eight of their titles in the last 13 seasons ... BC was the Beanpot champion in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
• BC has appeared in 14 of the last 18 championship games - including each of the last six with 2018 - missing the final in 2004, 2008, 2010 and 2012.
• Last season, Daryl Watts was voted the tournament's Most Valuable Player while Katie Burt earned her second career Bertagna Award as the tournament's stop goaltender.
ABOUT BOSTON COLLEGE
• The Eagles got back in the win column on Friday night with a 7-1 victory against UNH at Kelley Rink ... Megan Keller had four points and Kelly Pickreign made 18 saves for her first career win ... seven BC players finished with multiple points in the win, which ended a two-game skid against the Wildcats.
• BC suffered a 4-1 loss to Harvard in the Beanpot semifinal round last week... Makenna Newkirk scored the lone goal for the Eagles.
• Keller (16-22-38) leads the team in points while Daryl Watts (16-17-33) is second in points ... in total, seven Eagles have at least 20 points so far.
• Maddy McArthur (18-9-0, .910 save percentage, 2.04 goals against average, five shutouts) has played most of the minutes in goal, but both Molly Barrow and Pickreign have picked up wins for BC.
• The Eagles have played 10 games in 2019, going 7-3-0 in those contests ... BC is 4-1-0 in its last five.
ABOUT NORTHEASTERN
• Northeastern clinched a share of the Hockey East regular season title and the No. 1 overall seed for the playoffs with a 6-3 win over Merrimack on Friday.
• Six Huskies scored in the win and five of them had multi-point efforts while Aerin Frankel moved to 16-1-2 on the season with 28 saves.
• Northeastern lost its Beanpot semifinal game to Boston University last week by way of a shootout ... the teams were tied 3-3 after regulation and an overtime before BU took the shootout, 2-1.
• Rookie Alina Mueller (16-25-41) has a team-high 41 points while 10 players have at least 10 points ... Kasidy Anderson (17-12-29) is second in points and tops in goals.
IT'S WORTH NOTING
• BC earned its 20th win of the season on Feb. 8 against UNH, making it one of five teams in the country to hit that mark this season.
• Lindsay Agnew scored the team's 100th goal in that game ... BC is one of six teams to hit that plateau.
• Kali Flanagan and Ryan Little each played in their 148 career games, tied for 10th in program history.
• Freshman Kelly Browne is second among rookies and tied for sixth overall in face-off wins with 276 ... she led all freshman in the country in face-off wins in the month of November with 75.
• Megan Keller has registered at least one point in 23 of her 29 games played this season and had 11 multi-point outings.
• BC is the only Hockey East school that has three goaltenders on the roster with at least one win this season.
• Caitrin Lonergan's .604 face-off winning percentage is fifth in the league while Makenna Newkirk's .564 is eighth.
• Daryl Watts is fourth in Hockey East with an average of 4.80 shots on goal per game while Lonergan is seventh with an average of 4.25.
• Among forwards, Newkirk's 42 blocks leads all of Hockey East and is 11th in the country.
• BC started Hockey East play 5-0-0 for the first time since the 2015-16 season.
KELLER MAKES THE CASE
• Megan Keller leads all defensemen nationally in scoring with 38 points on 16 goals and 22 assists.
• The senior leads all defenders or is tied for first in goals, assists, points, goals per game (0.55), assists per game (0.76) points per game (1.31), power-play goals (6) and game-winning goals (5).
• Princeton's Claire Thompson sits second with 25 points while the next-closest points per game average is Cornell's Jaime Bourbonnais at 1.05.
• Among all skaters in the country, Keller ranks in the top 15 in points, goals, assists, power-play points, game-winning goals and points per game.
• The last defender to average at least 1.25 points per game for a season was Keller when she finished her sophomore 2015-16 season at 1.27 per game.
• Keller has 100 shots on goal and is averaging 3.345 shots on goal per game, with both of those numbers ranking third among blue liners.
• She has 38 blocks and a plus-33 rating.
• The Farmington Hills, Mich. native set a new Hockey East single-season points record for a defender on Jan. 25 against Providence and set the single-season goals record on Feb. 8 versus UNH.
• With the goal against the Wildcats, she became the sixth player in program history to reach 150 career points.
• She has a 15-20-35 scoring line in conference play, good for second.
• In the month of January, Keller was on the ice for 71 percent of BC's even-strength goals.
• She was named the Hockey East Player of the Month for January ... it was the first time a defenseman has been named Player of the Month since Keller took home the honor for February 2017.
NEWKIRK'S NOTE
• Makenna Newkirk has quietly put together another 25-plus point season for the Eagles, notching 10 goals and 19 assists for 29 points.
• The senior is tied with team-high six assists on the power play.
• She is third on the team in blocked shots with 32 ... that leads all forwards in the conference and is 11th in the country.
• While Newkirk has not scored a game-winning goal this season, she has assisted on six of them ... she tallied a game-winning assist in four consecutive contests Oct. 11-20.
• She has had three different point streak of four-or-more games, including a stretch of nine Nov. 1-Dec. 1.
• Newkirk is the only active player in NCAA hockey that has finished in the top 25 in scoring in each of the last three seasons.
DEFENSE CHIPPIN' IN
• The Eagles' defensive corps is first in the nation in points (97), points per game (3.23), goals (26) and assists (71).
• Megan Keller (16-22-38) leads all blue liners in points while Cayla Barnes (4-15-19) is tied for 14th and leads all rookie blue liners.
• BC defensemen have scored a nation-leading eight game-winning goals and sit tied for first with 10 power-play goals.
• The BC defense has chipped in on 26% of the squad's goals (26/101), 41% of the assists (71/175) and 35% of the overall points (97/276).
BALANCED ATTACK
• BC has 12 players in double-digit points and seven players with at least 15 points.
• Nine different players have scored game-winning goals for BC … six of those players have scored multiple game-winning goals.
• The Eagles have 20 players with at least one point and 17 players have scored at least one goal.
• Seven players have scored at least five goals for the Eagles … 10 players have potted at least three goals.
