Hamilton Leads the Way in 74-55 Win Over CCSU

Eagles Capture Third Straight Victory
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Jared Hamilton led four Boston College players in double figures with a season-high 18 points as the Eagles cruised to a 74-55 win over Central Connecticut on Sunday. It was BC's third consecutive victory.
Hamilton was 6-for-9 from the floor, including 3-of-3 from 3-point land, to go along with two rebounds, two assists and a steal in 24 minutes. Â
CCSU scored the first two baskets of the game and led 7-4 less than four minutes into the game before a 16-4 BC run broke the game open. The Eagles would build as much as a 15 point advantage in the first half, after Jay Heath's two free throws made it 35-20 with 1:38 to play. BC led 35-23 at the break.
A 21-5 run to start the second put the game out of reach, after Heath made two more FT to double it up for the Eagles - at 56-28 with 14:02 remaining. The Blue Devils responded with 12 unanswered points to get within 16 - 56-40 with 11:57 to play - but would get no closer.

- Jared Hamilton's 18 points marked the highest point total by the senior in a BC uniform. His career-high in scoring is 21 points, set on Feb. 20, 2016 vs. Tennessee State when Hamilton played at Jacksonville State.
- Steffon Mitchell filled the box score again, finishing with 13 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and six steals.
- Jay Heath had 16 points, three boards, three assists and two steals. It was Heath's first collegiate game without a 3-pointer (0-6).
- Derryck Thornton added 12 points, four boards, and three assists.
- Jairus Hamilton chipped in with nine points and a season-high seven rebounds to go along with two assists, a steal, and a thunderous blocked shot.
- CJ Felder grabbed six rebounds in 22 foul-plagued minutes.
- BC shot 40.3% (27-67) from the floor - including 6-of-27 from beyond the arc. Â
- The Eagles held CCSU under 40% shooting and forced 23 turnovers.
- 16 - BC grabbed a season-high 16 offensive rebounds on the afternoon.
- Steffon Mitchell (24) and Jared Hamilton (20) led the way for the Eagles on the efficiency rating.
- Jairus Hamilton (13) and CJ Felder/Jay Heath (11) rounded out the EFF leaders for BC on the afternoon.
- Efficiency rating is calculated using the following formula: (PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK - Missed Shots - TO).
- Boston College closes out non-conference play in the Bay Area, taking on California on Dec. 21 in San Francisco.
- The game is part of the inaugural Al Attles Classic and will be played at Chase Center - home of the Golden State Warriors.
