CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's soccer team will host Yale in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday at the Newton Soccer Field. The winner of the game will travel to play at Washington on Sunday, Nov. 24. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday night.
Admission for the game is $8 for adults and $3 for students. All cash sales day of game at the Newton Soccer Field. The first 100 students will get in free.
The game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra, which is accessible via WatchESPN.com and the ESPN app.
BC vs. YALE
- This will be the 16th meeting between Boston College and Yale.
- BC leads the overall series, 8-5-2. BC is 4-2-2 at home vs. the Bulldogs.
- The two teams first played on Oct. 10, 2010 at home. BC won the game, 1-0.
- BC and Yale last played in 2009 - Yale won the match 2-1 at Newton.
- Since 2000, BC is 5-2-1 vs. Yale. Yale is 2-1-1 in the last four matches.
BC IN THE NCAA
- This is the 15th NCAA Tournament appearance for the Eagles.
- BC's first tournament appearance was in 1982. The last time the Eagles competed in the NCAA Tournament was in 2016.
- Since 2000, BC has made the tournament in 2000-02, 2004, 2007-12, 2015 and 2016.
- Boston College has an 8-11-5 all-time record in NCAA Tournament action. It is 2-3 in penalty kick shootouts.
- BC reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship in 2015 for the second time in program history. The Eagles beat Vermont in the first round of the tournament in Newton and then traveled to Tampa and beat No. 15 USF, 2-1, in overtime.
- In the Sweet 16, BC went to the nation's capital to face No. 2 Georgetown. The sides played to a 1-1 draw and the Eagles advanced on penalty kicks, 5-4. The run came to an end at No. 6 Syracuse as the Orange advanced to the College Cup with a 1-0 victory.
- The BC-Yale game will mark the fifth time the Eagles have faced an Ivy League opponent in the NCAA Tournament.
CORNER KICKS
- Boston College last played at Notre Dame in the ACC Tournament on Nov. 5. The Eagles lost the match in overtime, 2-1.
- The Eagles have played five overtime games this season. They are 0-2-3 in overtime this season.
- BC had three players named to the All-ACC Freshman Team this season – Stefan Sigurdarson, Amos Shapiro-Thompson and Victor Souza. Sigurdarson was also an All-ACC Third Team honoree.
- Three freshman – Stefan Sigurdarson, Amos Shapiro-Thompson and Michael Suski – lead BC in scoring. Sigurdarson has tallied seven goals with four assists for 18 points. Shapiro-Thompson has four goals with an assist for nine points while Suski has three goals and three assists for nine points.
- Junior David Longo and freshman Victor Souza are the only players on the roster that have played every minute of every game.
