The volleyball team gets back to work on the road in Winston-Salem
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. –The Boston College volleyball team (18-9, 9-5 ACC) jumps back into action following a nine-day break on the road at Wake Forest (11-14, 1-13 ACC) for their second meeting of the season on Sunday. First serve is set for 1:00 PM in Reynolds Gymnasium in Winston-Salem, N.C. as the match will be featured on the ACC Network Extra.
Before the break, the Eagles got back on track with their first three-set win since October 11 as BC welcomed Virginia Tech to Power Gym and came out on top, 3-0. Junior Clare Naughton led the offensive pace for the second consecutive match, putting up 17 kills on the day while Cat Balido marked a career-best for hitting percentage, tallying an error-free .600 through 12 kills off of 20 attempts. Amaka Chukwujekwu paced the defense with a match-best five blocks.
The Demon Deacons sit at the bottom spot in the conference standings, only finding one win over Syracuse in ACC season, and since suffering an 11-match losing streak. Wake Forest opened the season with a 7-0 record before facing their first loss to Elon, a five-set match in the Elon/Wake Forest tournament in September.Â
The two teams have met once already in 2019, as the Eagles took a 3-1 win in Chestnut Hill to reach their first-ever 4-0 mark in ACC play. In that match, Wake Forest earned the opening set win before BC rallied to take the following three behind a double-double from Clare Naughton with 19 kills and 10 digs on top of her four aces and four blocks.  Despite the Eagles' recent success, the Demon Deacons hold an all-time series advantage, finding wins in 15 of the teams' 23 meetings.
Following Sunday's match, the Eagles continue the road stretch and head to Charlottesville to take on Virginia on Friday, Nov. 22 at 6:30 PM.
