Volleyball Falls 3-0 to Cal

BERKELEY, Calif. – The Boston College volleyball team (16-15, 5-14 ACC) dropped 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-15) to Cal (8-21, 5-14 ACC) Wednesday afternoon at Haas Pavilion.

Audrey Ross led the Eagles with six kills and eight points. Anna Herrington wasn't far behind with five kills and seven points. Sam Hoppes, Bella Ehrlich and Sofija Marjanovic all tallied four kills. Lucy Mott guided the offensive charge with 21 assists. Brooklyn Yelland held down the back row with 19 digs. Cornelia Roach and Anna Herrington both posted four blocks.

The Eagles and Golden Bears tied four times before a 6-0 Cal run put them ahead. The Golden Bears pushed their lead to hold a 15-12 advantage at the media timeout. A 7-3 run from the Golden Bears pushing them to a 22-15 lead, forcing an Eagle timeout. Cal came out of the timeout with a 7-1 run to close the set. The Golden Bears took the first frame, 25-16.

The Golden Bears held a 15-12 lead at the media timeout. A 4-0 run pushed their lead to 19-12, the Eagles quickly responded with a 5-1 run, cutting the gap to three and forcing a Cal timeout. Kills from Ross, Herrington and Marjanovic shortened the gap, but the Eagles couldn't catch up to Cal. The Golden Bears took the second set 25-21.

The Eagles came out fighting in the third set taking an early 8-5 lead. The Golden Bears went on a 5-0 run to take the lead, 10-8, forcing a BC timeout. The Eagles and Golden Bears went 5-5, trading points as the Eagles came within two, trailing 15-13. A 6-0 Cal run lengthened their advantage to eight, leading 21-13. Another late run pushed the Bears ahead, and Cal secured the set 25-15, and the match 3-0.
