Eagles Head to Pitt for Thursday Night ACC Contest

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's soccer team will travel to Pittsburgh on Thursday, Oct. 10 to take on the Panthers in an ACC contest. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., and the game will be live on ACCNX – which streams live on the ESPN App.

A WIN OVER PITT WOULD . . .
• Move the Eagles to 9-3-1 overall on the year and 2-3-0 in ACC play.
• Bump BC to 12-0-0 in the all-time series with Pitt and 7-0-0 on the road against the Panthers.

ABOUT PITT
• The 3-6-3 Panthers are coming off a narrow 1-0 loss at No. 5 Florida State on Saturday afternoon ... the Seminoles used a penalty kick in the second minute for the ACC win.
• Freshman Amanda West leads Pitt in points (21), goals (7) and assists (7) ... Sydney Marasco with three goals and Anna Rico with one goal and four assists each have six points.
• Three goalkeepers have played for the Panthers, with Amaia Pena seeing the majority of time ... Pena is 2-3-2 with a 1.52 goals against average and .606 save percentage.
• The Panthers sport 21 players on the 2019 roster that were not on the roster in 2018, with 17 of those players being rookies.
• Randy Waldrum is in his second season at the helm of the Panthers ... Waldrum, who entered 2019 sixth among active head coaches in career head coaching victories (403), led Notre Dame to national titles in 2004 and 2010.

SERIES HISTORY VS PITT
• Boston College has a record of 11-0-0 in the all-time series with Pitt ... the Eagles are 5-0-0 in Newton and 6-0-0 in Pittsburgh.
• These two teams first met on Oct. 11, 1997 with BC getting a 2-0 road win.
• In last year's meeting in Newton, the Eagles earned a 7-0 victory ... seven current Eagles earned points in that game, including Kayla Jennings with two goals and Jenna Bike with three assists ... ABOUT HEAD COACH JASON LOWE
• Jason Lowe was named the program's fifth head coach on Jan. 9, 2019.
• Lowe arrived on the Heights after serving on the coaching staff at Wake Forest since 2014, including 2017 and 2018 as associate head coach.
• The Shaker Heights, Ohio native helped the Demon Deacons reach the NCAA tournament Round of 32 in 2017 and the Sweet 16 in 2018.
• Prior to Wake Forest, Lowe served as an assistant coach at Alabama for five seasons and two years at Emory.
• Lowe served as a goalkeeper for the Wake Forest men's soccer team from 1994-97.
• In addition to receiving his bachelor's degree in 1998, Lowe also earned his MBA from Wake Forest in 2002.

SMITH SCORES
• Freshman Sam Smith is tied for sixth in the ACC with her 17 points.
• The Hanson, Mass. native has scored eight goals and assisted on one other.
• Her eight goals is good for a tie for third overall in the ACC ... her three game-winning goals tie for third in the conference as well.

VALUABLE VAUGHN
• Senior forward Olivia Vaughn is BC's active scoring leader with 57 points on 26 goals and five assists.
• Vaughn has notched two braces so far this season, doing it against UMass Lowell (Aug. 25) and Miami (Sept. 26) ... she now has six for her career.
• Vaughn recorded a career-high 21 points on a career-best 10 goals and one assist as a junior ... she also recorded a career-high 65 shots.
• She tallied a career-high two assists as a sophomore in 2017.
• The Montclair, N.J. native has played in all 71 of BC's contests since arriving on the Heights.

CAPTAIN CARREIRO
• Midfielder Gaby Carreiro has tied her career-high in goals scored this season with three.
• The tri-captain scored one against Boston University on Aug. 29 ... she has also gone 2-for-2 on penalty kicks, converting against Miami (Sept. 26) and Louisville (Sept. 29).
• Through 12 games, Carreiro has three goals and two assists for eight points ... her career high is 10 points, which came during the 2016 season on one goal and eight assists.

PUTTING IN THE TIME
• Through 12 games played this season, three Eagles have eclipsed the 1,000 minutes played mark.
• Freshman Michela Agresti has put in 1078 minutes on the pitch, going 90 minutes or more in 11 of 12 contests.
• Classmate Sydney Moore has played 1073 minutes thus far, including a 110-minute effort against Providence on Sept. 12.
• Riley Lochhead has played 1,036 minutes on the back line for the Eagles ... Mia Karras sits at 988 minutes played.
