
Eagles Dominate Northeast Catholic Invitational

Both men's and women's teams took the overall wins in the season-opening meet
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Boston College swim and dive team opened their 2019-20 season with a dominant performance at the annual Northeast Catholic Invitational. The men's team topped seven other opponents, racking up 1,193 points  while the women's team defeated six teams with 1,280 points in the two-day opening meet at the new Margot Connell Recreation Center. As a team, the Eagles combined to set 18 different NECI records.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
-  Zachary Szmania finished first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:41.85, which now ranks seventh all-time at BC. Szmania also finished first in the 500 freestyle.
- Dale Nickerson took the top finish in the three-meter dive and earned second in the one-meter dive.
- Â Matt Clark was the top scorer of the meet, having won all three of his individual events (200 individual medley, 100 butterfly and 200 back). Clark set the meet records in both the 100 fly (51.26) and 200 back (1:52.22).
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Nicole Barkemeyer finished the 200 backstroke in 2:04.34, which ranks eighth all-time at BC.
- Lindsey Ryalls now ranks 10th in program history in the 400 individual medley, finishing with a time of 4:32.68. Ryalls finished first in both the 400 individual medley and the 500 freestyle.
- Ellie Uhl took the first place finish in the three-meter dive and came in second on the one-meter board.
- Alexa Lantin (200 breaststroke, 1000 freestyle), Victoria Lin (100 butterfly, 200 butterfly) and Ali Kea (100 freestyle, 200 freestyle) were amongst the multi-event individual winners for BC.
