Eagles Host Northeastern on Tuesday

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Coming off its first ACC win of the season on Friday night vs. No. 3 Wake Forest, Boston College men's soccer team will wrap up the non-conference portion of its schedule against Northeastern on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at the Newton Campus Fields.Â
Freshman Stefan Sigurdarson scored two-goals, including the game-winner in the 84th minute, which led BC to a 2-1 upset over No. 3 Wake Forest on Friday night. Sophomore goalkeeper Christian Garner made a career-high five saves in his first ACC victory.
BC is slowly recovering from the injury bud. Despite not having the service of freshman midfielder Amos Shapiro-Thompson against Wake Forest, sophomore midfielder Kristofer Konradsson returned to action for the first time in six games. He played 26 minutes in the match and managed a dangerous shot on goal.
The Eagles (5-2-2, 1-2-1 ACC) enter Tuesday's game vs. Northeastern with a three-game unbeaten streak. Â
Northeastern (5-3-3, 2-1-2 CAA) comes to Newton on a two game unbeaten streak. The Huskies tied No. 18 James Madison, 3-3, on Saturday. Prior to that game, Northeastern tied Hartford, 1-1, on Tuesday.
The Huskies have scored 19 goals this season but given up 16. BC will have to be aware of where Timothy Ennin and Benjamin Klingen are on the field. The both have posted four goals with two assists. Ennin has scored three goals in the last four games. Against JMU he recorded a goal and assist, while Klingen scored the other goal.
This will be the first meeting between Boston College and Northeastern since the 2012 season. The two teams met in the NCAA Tournament on Nov. 15. The Huskies came away with a 1-0 victory.
BC leads the overall series, 11-1-1. BC is 7-0-1 at home against the Huskies. The two teams first played on Oct. 31, 1984 with the Eagles earning a 3-0 victory.
Following Tuesday's game the Eagles will host No. 1 Virginia on Friday night at 7 p.m. It is the final game of a four-game home stand.
The Eagles will head out on the road for three consecutive games. They will travel to No. 24 Louisville for a game on Friday, Oct. 18 (7:30 p.m.). The second leg of the trip is a match at No. 6 Clemson on Friday, October 25 at 7 p.m. followed by an in-state rivalry game at Harvard on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
The final game of the year is against old rival Syracuse on Friday, Nov. 1. The program will honor the senior class prior to kickoff. The match is set for a 7 p.m. start.
