CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Boston College field hockey team defeated ACC foe No. 8 Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia on Friday, Oct. 4, 1-0, off a penalty corner goal by Fusine Govaert with six seconds left in the first half.

Sarah Dwyer earned the nod in net, making three saves in route to her first shutout of the season.

Govaert scored her fifth goal of the season, while Margo Carlin and Darcy Clement earned assists on the play. Carlin's assist gives her a team-lead 22 points this season, while Clement earned her first-career point.

Virginia outshot BC during the game, 10-7, but both teams had three on cage. There were nine total penalty corners between the teams, with Virginia earning five and BC four.
