Eagles Head to Virginia, Host Quinnipiac Over Weekend

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College field hockey team continue the 2019 season, heading to No. 8 Virginia on Friday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. and hosting Quinnipiac on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 12 p.m.

MS Day
On Sunday, BC will welcome Kathleen Murphy back to campus for MS Day. Kathleen is a former BC field hockey player who was diagnosed with MS and will honor her pregame.
The Last Matchup
Boston College defeated Virginia in Newton last year, 2-0, off goals from Elizabeth Warner and Brooke Matherson. It was a game BC had control of, as the Eagles outshot the Cavaliers, 11-6.
The Eagles opened the 2018 season with a road game at Quinnipiac, coming back to Newton with a 7-0 win. In the game, BC had six different goal scorers, while seven players registered points. The Eagles have never lost to Quinnipiac in 14 total meetings dating back to 2002.
Last Weekend
Boston College lost apiar of close games to ranked teams. First, BC welcomed Louisville to Newton, where a back-and-forth game ultimately led to a 3-2 Cardinal win. Jaime Natale and Margo Carlin both scored for BC, while the Eagles had a 1-0 and 2-1 lead during the game.
Then on Sunday, Saint Joe's came to town for a high-scoring affair, where the Hawks won, 5-4. Charlotte Von Huelsen, Brigid Wood and Margo Carlin scored for BC, but Saint Joe's scored with 45 seconds remaining in the fourth period to win.
Carlin's Calling
Freshman Margo Carlin has had an incredible first season at BC, scoring 10 goals so far with 21 total points. Carlin has scored goals in her last six games and in eight of nine this season. She currently sits tied for third in goals and points in the ACC and has the most among freshman in the conference.
