
No. 13 Eagles to Play No. 15 Syracuse, New Hampshire

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 13 Boston College field hockey team is set to welcome No. 15 Syracuse to the Newton Field Hockey Complex on Friday, Oct. 18 for a 6 p.m. tilt before heading to Durham, New Hampshire to face UNH on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. in its last non-conference game of the year.

The Matchup
Boston College enters Friday's game against Syracuse 10-24 all-time and winless in its last five meetings against the Orange. Last year, BC lost a 2-1 overtime heartbreaker to Syracuse, who scored in the 83rd minute of action.

On the other hand, BC is 24-7-1 all-time against New Hampshire. They have won the last nine games and 16 of the last 17. Last year. UNH came to Newton, where the Crimson won 6-0 behind six different goal scorers. Five of the six goal-scorers are back in 2019.

BC rode a hot hand in goal as Sarah Dwyer completed her third and fourth straight shutouts of the year in a pair of cross-town matches. On Thursday, Harvard came to Newton for a non-conference match with BC winning 1-0. Dwyer made three saves and Brigid Wood scored BC's lone goal just 1:19 into the game for the Eagles to down the Crimson.

Then on Sunday, Margo Carlin put on a show, scoring four goals in BC's 5-0 win over Boston University. Carlin's four goals is tied for the most goals in a single game so far this year in the country.

Syracuse comes in ranked 15th in the country with an 8-4 record. Though, they are 1-2 in ACC play with losses to No. 1 North Carolina (3-1) and Virginia (2-0).

Like BC, Syracuse totes a talented goal-scoring freshman in Charlotte Devries, who has 13 goals and one assist for 27 points this season. Scoring mainly goes through Devries as no other player has more than seven points this season.

In net, Sarah Sinck has seen action in 11 of 12 games this season and starting nine of those games, boasting a 7-3 record. She has also been the only goalkeeper to see action in ACC play. Sinck has made 39 saves and has a 1.68 GAA and .696 save percentage. Her lone shutout came against then No. 2 Duke in a 2-0 win.
