
Strong Second Half Leads Eagles to 2-1 Win Over No. 15 Syracuse

NEWTON, Mass. – Behind two goals from Margo Carlin, the Boston College field hockey team defeated No. 15 Syracuse 2-1, at the Newton Field Hockey Complex on Friday, Oct. 18.

Both of Carlin's goals came in the second half and were assisted by Jaime Natale and Brigid Wood.

Carlin opened the scoring for the game 5:17 into the second half, receiving a pass from Jaime Natale, who dribbled into the circle and drew the goalie out of the cage, before sticking the ball in the back of the net.

Syracuse would score their lone goal of the game with just 16 seconds remaining in the third period.

With just under four minutes remaining in the game, Carlin would give BC the lead when Brigid Wood would make a brilliant run into the circle, feeding Carlin who pulled the ball to her strong side and hit it into the goal. The goal was her fourth game-winning goal of the season.

Sarah Dwyer earned her fifth-straight win, making one save on two shots on goal in 60 minutes of action.

- Margo Carlin now has 17 goals on the season, moving into eighth in BC single-season scoring. Her 37 points also puts her in 10th in single-season points in program history. Carlin also sits second in the ACC in both points (37) and goals (17).
- Sarah Dwyer won her fifth-straight start, giving her a 5-1 record on the season. Syracuse's goal at the 44:44 mark broke a 297-minute scoreless streak for opponents while Dwyer was in net.
