No. 3 UNC Comes to Newton for Thursday Night Conference Clash

The Eagles will host the Tar Heels in an ACC clash that will be live on the ACC Network.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's soccer team will host third-ranked North Carolina on Thursday night at the Newton Campus Soccer Field. The conference clash will air live on the ACC Network. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

• Move the Eagles to 9-4-2 overall on the year and 2-4-1 in ACC play.

ABOUT NORTH CAROLINA
• Third-ranked North Carolina enters Thursday night at 12-1-1 overall and 5-0-1 in ACC play after topping Pitt, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon.
• Brianna Pinto scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season in the win ... Pitt's goal marked the first allowed by UNC in ACC play this season ... it ended a 491 minute, 20 second shutout streak by the Tar Heels.
• Pinto leads UNC with 19 points on eight goals and three assists while Bridgette Andrzejewski has five goals and five assists for 15 points and Alessia Russo has six goals for 12 points.
• Marz Josephson and Claudia Dickey have split time in goal for the Tar Heels ... Josephson has played 740:00 minutes and holds a 6-1-1 record with a 0.24 goals against average and .889 save percentage ... Dickey has played 540:00 while holding a 5-0-0 record, .750 save percentage and 0.50 goals against average ... UNC has put up nine shutouts on the year.
• UNC's one tie on the year came at Duke on Oct. 10, with the ACC foes playing to a 0-0 tie ... the loss came in a 2-0 non-conference defeat at Arkansas back on Sept. 15.
• Anson Dorrance is in his 41st year as head coach at UNC ... he boasts an overall record of 847-74-40 ... UNC has won 21 NCAA national championships, 21 ACC Tournament championships and 22 ACC regular-season titles.
• The Tar Heels finished 2018 with an overall record of 21-4-2 and a 10-0-0 ACC record, good for first place.
SERIES HISTORY VS NORTH CAROLINA
• Boston College has a record of 1-18-0 in the all-time series against North Carolina.
• The squads first met in 1981, with the Tar Heels topping the Eagles, 8-1 ... the teams went on to meet three more times in the next eight years before a hiatus in the series until joining the ACC in 2005.
• The lone Eagles' win in the series came in 2010, with BC topping UNC, 3-2, in Chapel Hill ... a then fourth-ranked BC squad took down top-ranked UNC behind goals from Kristie Mewis, Alaina Beyar and Victoria DiMartino.
• In last year's meeting, UNC scored in the sixth minute for a 1-0 win at home ... it was the sixth game in the series that the Tar Heels won with a 1-0 score line.

ABOUT HEAD COACH JASON LOWE
• Jason Lowe was named the program's fifth head coach on Jan. 9, 2019.
• Lowe arrived on the Heights after serving on the coaching staff at Wake Forest since 2014, including 2017 and 2018 as associate head coach.
• The Shaker Heights, Ohio native helped the Demon Deacons reach the NCAA tournament Round of 32 in 2017 and the Sweet 16 in 2018.
• Prior to Wake Forest, Lowe served as an assistant coach at Alabama for five seasons and two years at Emory.
• Lowe served as a goalkeeper for the Wake Forest men's soccer team from 1994-97.
• In addition to receiving his bachelor's degree in 1998, Lowe also earned his MBA from Wake Forest in 2002.
SISTER TO SISTER
• Captain Kayla Jennings' goal against Wake Forest on Oct. 13 was assisted by her younger sister Jillian Jennings.
• It marked the first time that the Jennings sisters have teamed up for a goal.
• It was not the first time this year that two sisters combined for a BC goal ... in the Eagles' win over Miami on Sept. 26, Michela Agresti hit Samantha Agresti with a pass and Samantha Agresti in turn found Olivia Vaughn for a goal.

• Through the first 14 games of the season, 14 different players have notched at least one point for the Eagles ... BC had 14 total point-getters in the 2018 and 2017 seasons.

CAPTAIN CARREIRO
• Midfielder Gaby Carreiro has tied her career-high in goals scored this season with three.
• The tri-captain scored one against Boston University on Aug. 29 ... she has also gone 2-for-2 on penalty kicks, converting against Miami (Sept. 26) and Louisville (Sept. 29).
• Through 14 games, Carreiro has three goals and two assists for eight points ... her career high is 10 points, which came during the 2016 season on one goal and eight assists.
