NEWTON, Mass. – Goals from Addy Kalaw and Sophie Reale lifted the Boston College women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over St. John's on Monday afternoon at the Newton Soccer Complex.

Kalaw opened the scoring in the 44th minute, finding the back of the net for the second consecutive game. Ada Henschien and Milla Lee combined to set up the play, finding Kalaw, who put the Eagles in front just before halftime.

Boston College doubled its advantage in the 56th minute when Reale found the back of the net for the second time this season. Ashley Roberts picked up the assist on the play as the Eagles extended their lead to 2-0.

St. John's cut into the deficit in the 67th minute when Erin Palmer scored off an assist from Nora Basile, but the Eagles' defense held strong over the final 24 minutes to secure the victory.

Faith Fenwick made two saves in the victory, earning her second win of the season. The Eagles' defense limited the Red Storm to six shots and three shots on target.

Boston College controlled the majority of the match, holding advantages in shots (12-6), shots on target (6-3) and corner kicks (7-3), while maintaining 54 percent of the possession.

The Eagles improve to 2-0-0 on the season and hit the road for the first time this season on Sunday, Aug. 23, traveling to Cornell for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
