Reigning Tewaaraton recipient rakes in top USL preseason honor

SPARKS, Md. -- Boston College's Sam Apuzzo has been honored as the Brine/US Lacrosse Preseason Player of the Year, as announced by the magazine earlier this week.

The now-senior helped lead the Eagles to a perfect 2018 regular season campaign, an ACC Regular Season Championship title, and their second consecutive National Championship appearance. Individually, the attack raked in both the Honda Lacrosse Award and the Tewaaraton Award as Boston College's first honoree in program history.

Apuzzo will captain the team for their 2019 efforts alongside classmates Dempsey Arsenault, Brooke Troy and graduate student Kenzie Kent. The Eagles were tabbed as the preseason favorites by US Lacrosse, debuting at the No. 1 spot in the preseason rankings. Their season begins as they host cross-town rival Boston University on Feb. 9.
