
No. 9 Eagles Prepare For Home-and-Home Series with Providence

The teams met the first weekend of November in Providence, with the Friars earning a 4-2 win. Daryl Watts scored twice for the Eagles in the loss to reach 50 career goals. That loss snapped a then nation-leading eight-game unbeaten streak for the Eagles.

Boston College (16-9-0. 13-7-0 HEA) took two games at Vermont last weekend, 4-2 and 5-2. Six different players scored goals for the Eagles on the weekend, including Jillian Fey netting the first of her career. Megan Keller (13-16-29) leads the team in points while Watts (14-12-26) is tops in goals and second in points.Â

Providence (17-7-0, 11-6-0 HEA) is coming off a split with New Hampshire this past weekend, winning 4-0 on Friday night before falling 5-0 on Saturday. The loss marked the second time this season that PC was shutout. Since topping the Eagles on Nov. 3, Providence is 11-5-0 but 2-3-0 in its last five. The team was ranked for seven consecutive weeks and is receiving votes in both of this week's polls.

BC has played 20 conference contests and is currently second in the Hockey East standings with 26 points. Northeastern sits first with 32 points through 19 games played while BU is third (24 points, 19 games played) and Providence sits fourth (22 points, 17 games played).

After the series with Providence, the Eagles will host Holy Cross on Friday, Feb. 1 before taking on Harvard on Tuesday, Feb. 5 in the first round of the Beanpot.

ABOUT BOSTON COLLEGE
• The Eagles traveled to Vermont last weekend and took both games from the Catamounts, 4-2 and 5-2 … six different players scored for BC on the weekend while Maddy McArthur was in net for both wins … the wins gave BC the season series (3-0-0)
and extended the win streak in the all-time series to 23 and the unbeaten streak to 32 (29-3-0).
• BC earned its first win of 2019 on Jan. 12 with a 7-5 win over No. 3 Northeastern ... it was part of a weekend split that saw the Eagles fall 4-1 on Jan. 11.

KELLER MAKING HER CASE
• Megan Keller leads all defensemen nationally in scoring with a nation-high 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points.
• The senior is tied for the overall country lead in power-play goals with five.
• Her five power-play goals and three game-winning goals are career-highs.
• Overall, Keller points total sits tied for 14th while her 1.21 points per game average is tied for 15th … she is tied for fourth in Hockey East in points.
• No other defender has put up more than 19 points while the next closest points per game average is Cornell's Jaime Bourbonnais at 1.07.
• The last defenseman to average at least 1.20 points per game during a season was Keller, doing it during her sophomore 2015-16 season (1.27).
• Keller has 83 shots on goal and is averaging 3.46 shots on goal per game, with both those numbers ranking third in the nation among blue liners.
• She has 31 blocks and is a plus-22.
• Keller is currently two points from tying the single-season Hockey East defenseman points record with 26 and one goal from tying the single-season goal record (conference play only).
BELINSKAS COMING ON STRONG
• After putting up four points in her first 22 games, Delaney Belinskas has racked up six in the last three contests … the junior now has 10 points on five goals and five assists.Â
• Belinskas put up four points on two goals and two assists in BC's win over No. 3 Northeastern on Jan. 12.
• Belinskas has scored the game-winning goal in two out of the last three games.
• Her three-game goal scoring streak is a career-high … Belinskas has a career-high point streak of six game set during her 2016-17 freshman season.
• The Eagles are 7-0-0 this season when Belinskas notches at least one point and 4-0-0 when she scores a goal.
IT'S WORTH NOTING
• Juniors Lindsay Agnew, Delaney Belinskas, Erin Connolly and Bridget McCarthy recently suited up for their 100th career games … Caitrin Lonergan has played 98 career contests.
• Kali Flanagan and Ryan Little have each played in 143 career games, good for 20th in program history.
• Freshman Kelly Browne is second among conference rookies in face-off wins with 236 (sixth overall) ... she led all freshman in the country in face-off wins in the month of November with 75.
• Megan Keller has registered at least one point in 20 of her 24 games played this season … she currently has a five-game point streak.
• Lonergan's .617 face-off winning percentage is third in the league.
• Daryl Watts is fourth in Hockey East with an average of 4.92 shots on goal per game while Lonergan is fifth with an average of 4.30.
• Among forwards, Makenna Newkirk's 35 blocks leads all of Hockey East and is ninth in the country.
• BC started Hockey East play 5-0-0 for the first time since the 2015-16 season.
