ACC Play Opens Up as Georgia Tech Comes To Conte

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. –

Atlantic Coast Conference play will begin on Thursday as the Boston College women's basketball team will host Georgia Tech (10-3) on Thursday at Conte Forum (7 p.m.). This will be the Eagles' first ACC game under the direction of new head coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee.

The Eagles are currently 11-2 with a deciding 99-68 victory over Dartmouth on Dec. 29. BC had six players score in double-figures while Emma Guy led with 23 points.

Georgia Tech enters Thursday's game after a 81-40 win over Wofford.

BC vs. Georgia Tech
- In the overall series, BC is 5-12 against Georgia Tech.
- The first meeting between Boston College and Georgia Tech took place on Dec. 28, 1991 with the Eagles losing, 97-61, at a neutral sight.
- Last year Georgia Tech defeated BC, 67-43, in Atlanta.
- Boston College's first win over Georgia Tech came at home on Feb. 9 2006 (57-55).
- The last time BC defeated the Yellow Jackets, was on March 3, 2013 (74-68).
- BC and Georgia Tech have both played at Houston this season. BC defeated Houston, 64-57, on Nov. 18. Georgia Tech lost in double overtime to the Cougars, 95-89, in the season opener.

YOUTHFUL ENTHUSIAM
- Boston College is one of the youngest teams in the country.
- The Eagles are tied at second in the nation in average age with Oklahoma and Georgia Tech at 19.1. UMBC and SMU are first with the average age of 19.0.
- BC is also tied in third overall with Vermont, Oklahoma and SMU with seven true freshmen. FAU has eight true freshmen.

FREE THROWS
- BC is 5-8 in ACC opening games. The Eagles last won a conference opener in 2016-17, when BC defeated Clemson, 60-48 at home.
- Last year BC lost to Virginia Tech on the road in the ACC opener. BC and Georgia Tech played in the 2008-09 conference opener with the Eagles earning an overtime victory, 65-64.
- Boston College is currently fifth in the nation and first in the ACC in offensive rebounding (18.0 rpg.). Three players – Emma Guy, Georgia Pineau and Marnelle Garraud – have 30 or more offensive boards.
- BC is 12^th in the country and second in the ACC in rebound margin at +11.2. The Eagles have won the battle of the boards in 10 games this season.
- The Eagles are also 14^th in the nation in total rebounds and 15^th in rebounds per game (44.85).
- Junior Emma Guy is third in the ACC in field goal percentage (63.7) and is 10^th in the country. She is also ninth in the ACC in field goals made and 14^th in rebounds and rebounds per game (7.6 rpg.).
- Guy is shooting 76.7 percent and averaging 18.3 points and 9.0 rebounds in the last three games.
- Freshman Marnelle Garraud is second in the ACC in free throw percentage (89.7%). She has hit 35-of-39 free throws this season. She is 17^th in the nation in free throw percentage.
- Junior Taylor Ortlepp is fifth overall in the ACC in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.1) and 65^th in the country. In the last five games, Ortlepp is averaging 16.6 points, 2.1 steals and shooting 47.1 percent from long range.
