BC set to play its third consecutive ranked opponent, conference game

The Eagles (2-2-3, 1-2-0 ACC) have had a week of rest since facing then No. 9 Duke on Sept. 21. Boston College dropped that road match, 3-2, despite a comeback bid that saw Heidar Aegisson net his first career goal in the 87th minute. In contrast, the Fighting Irish hosted Xavier on Tuesday night and used four different goal scorers en route to a 4-1 win.

ABOUT NOTRE DAME
• The Fighting Irish enter Friday's game with an overall record of 4-3-1 after a 4-1 over Xavier on Tuesday night.
• The win - which featured four different goal scorers for the Irish - halted a three-game losing streak for Notre Dame.
• Notre Dame is led by Patrick Bernesky's five goals for 10 points on the stat sheet while Felicien Dumas has one goal and six assists.
• Head coach Chad Riley is in his first year at the helm of the Irish. Riley graduated from Notre Dame in 2004, captaining the squad as a senior.
THE SERIES vs. NOTRE DAME
• Friday's game will be the 14th meeting between the two programs.
• The Eagles are 4-8-1 all-time against Notre Dame with a 1-1-1 record against the Irish in ACC play.
• The teams' first meeting came in 1987, a 5-0 win for Notre Dame in South Bend.
• The next meeting wasn't until 1995 in Big East play, where ND held a 6-3-0 edge in the series that ran until 2003.
• After an eight-year break in the series, the teams met again for the first time in 2013 in ACC play in a 1-1 tie in Newton.
• In last season's meeting in Newton, Beto Luna notched his first career goal against the then-No. 6 Irish but the Irish took the game, 3-1.
• BC's last win in the series came in the form of a 1-0 win in South Bend in 2014.
A WIN OVER NOTRE DAME WOULD . . .
• Bump BC's record in the all-time series to 5-8-1 and 2-1-0 in the last three meetings.
• Move the Eagles to 3-2-3 overall and 2-2-0 in conference play.
• Give the program an overall record of 439-387-105 and a mark of 280-229-63 under head coach Ed Kelly.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Eagles last played on Sept. 21, battling No. 9 Duke hard in Durham but falling, 3-2.
• After a scoreless first half, the teams combined for five goals in the final 35 minutes of play, including three in an eight-minute span.
• Joe Kellett earned his first point as an Eagle, assisting on Beto Luna's 69th-minute goal.
• Faced with a 3-1 deficit, Heidar Aegisson scored his first career goal in the 87th minute but the Blue Devils held off the comeback bid for the final three minutes.
• Of the 15 field players that saw time on the pitch for BC, 10 attempted shots and five landed looks on target.
NEWCOMERS MAKING AN IMPACT
• Several newcomers to the Heights have already made an impact on the Eagles.
• So far, six freshmen have seen the pitch for BC. Joe Fryatt, Tyler Stott, Kristofer Konradsson and Ivan Postolka all started in the season opener while Jesus Sahagun and Tyshawn Rose came on as substitutes.
• Rose earned his first career start at Providence on Aug. 31 – the same game in which Carlos Dulcey made his first career appearance – and has started five straight games.
• Three other Eagles – David Longo, Ronaldinho Diniz and Joe Kellett – made their debuts in the Maroon and Gold against Quinnipiac as well.
• Kellett (690) and Longo (687) are first and second on the team in minutes played.
• Konradsson (558) and Rose (500) lead the rookies in minutes played.
