
Eagles to Host Terriers in Home Opener

It will be the 54th overall meeting between the crosstown rivals
The Eagles will look to move to 2-0-0 overall following a win at Quinnipiac on Friday in the season opener and will also be seeking a sixth consecutive win in the all-time series with the Terriers.

ABOUT BU
• The Terriers opened up the 2018 campaign against Rhode Island on Friday night, dropping the 2-0 home contest.
• BU was tabbed second in the Patriot League preseason poll after appearing in the conference semifinals in 2017 for the third time in four years.
• Fifteen of the 18 goals that were scored for BU a season ago return to the 2018 roster, along with five of the six players that were named all-league.
• In goal, Mike Bernardi returns after earning All-Patriot League Second Team accolades in 2017.
THE SERIES vs. BU
• Boston College enters Monday's meeting with a 27-18-8 record in the all-time series.
• Last season, the Eagles topped the Terriers at Nickerson Field behind four goals from four different scorers.
• The Eagles are 16-2-1 over the last 18 meetings, with the Terriers last winning in 2012 in a 1-0 match in Newton.
• BC and BU first met on the pitch on Oct. 26, 1967, with the Eagles winning the 3-1 match.

• The Eagles are 3-1-1 in the last five home openers and unbeaten in the last four.

LAST TIME OUT
• The Eagles opened the 2018 season with a 2-1 win at Quinnipiac on Friday, Aug. 24.
• Simon Enstrom scored in the 12th minute before adding another in the 30th to give BC a 2-0 lead at the half.
• The Bobcats pulled a goal back, but the Eagles held on for the win, giving rookie goaltender Joe Fryatt his first career win.
• Fryatt was one of six freshman to make their collegiate debut in the match (Fryatt, Tyler Stott, Kristofer Konradsson and Ivan Postolka all started while Jesus Sahagun and Tyshawn Rose came on as substitutes).
• Three other Eagles – David Longo, Ronaldinho Diniz and Joe Kellett – made their debuts in the Maroon and Gold.
• It was the second consecutive year that a rookie goaltender played in the season opener for BC.
• BC is now 18-11-2 all-time in season openers under head coach Ed Kelly and 12-1-1 in the all-time series against the Bobcats.
• It was the Eagles' fourth consecutive win over the Bobcats in the season opener.
• Enstrom's brace marked the second consecutive year that the captain opened the scoring in the season opener against Quinnipiac.
2018 CAPTAINS
• The Eagles will be led by the trio of Joshua Forbes, Simon Enstrom and Heidar Aegisson in 2018.
• Forbes is now in his second year serving as captain after first receiving the armband in 2017 as a junior.
• Enstrom and Aegisson are first-year captains.
ENSTROM CLIMBING BC CAREER CHARTS
• Senior Simon Enstrom continues to climb up the BC career scoring charts.
• With 60 career points (24 goals, 12 assists), he is now eighth all-time in program history.
• Additionally, his 24 goals ties him for sixth all-time in program history.
INTERNATIONAL APPEAL
• The Eagles have nine different countries represented on the 2018 roster.
• One player each comes from Croatia, Italy, Ireland, Sweden and Venezuela while England and Iceland have two student-athletes represented and Germany three.
• Eighteen players are from the United States, including six each from Massachusetts and Florida, three from California and one representative from Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.Â

• The Eagles will play seven regular season matches at home in 2018.
• Six opponents – all from the ACC – appeared in the United Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll.Â
• Seven of BC's opponents reached the NCAA Tournament in 2017.
• BC's longest homestand of the season is three games (Clemson, Sept. 7; Holy Cross, Sept. 11; Louisville, Sept. 14).Â
• This is the 10th consecutive season in which BC will play non-conference foe Harvard.

31 FOR KELLY
• The 2018 season marks head coach Ed Kelly's 31st at Boston College, and his 34th overall season of coaching.
• Entering the year, Kelly had complied an overall career record of 317-240-66, including three seasons at Seaton Hall, and owns a record of 277-227-60 at Boston College.
• His 277 wins at Boston College rank him first on BC's all-time list.
• His 100th career win came at Hartford on Sept. 17, 1994 his 200th over Yale on Oct. 12, 2005 and his 300th over Syracuse on Oct. 30, 2015.
• Kelly has guided the Eagles to 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 10 since 2000 – (1990, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2016)
• Under Kelly, the Eagles established a program-best 18 wins during the 2002 season.
THE 52nd SEASON
• With the start of the 2018 season, the Boston College men's soccer program will embark on its 52nd season of play.
• The Eagles kicked off the program in 1967, going 7-5-1 under head coach Gyorgy Lang.
• After 51 years of intercollegiate play, the Eagles held an all-time record of 436-395-102.
