Rookie Outfielder Honored by Collegiate Baseball News
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Boston College freshman outfielder Chris Galland (Sudbury, Mass.) has been selected as a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball News. He is the Eagles' first Freshman All-American since Jacob Stevens (Baseball America - 2016).
Â
At the conclusion of the regular season, Galland led the Eagles with 28 stolen bases to rank second in the ACC and 17th in the nation. He was caught stealing for the first time in his collegiate career on April 17 to break up a perfect 20-for-20 start to the season.
Â
Galland finished second on the team with a .316 batting average. He scored 36 runs, smacked 10 doubles and owned a .801 OPS.
Â
Last month, Galland was voted to the All-ACC Third Team. He joined 2016 first round draft pick Justin Dunn (2016) as the only other All-ACC Third Team selection in program history. He also joined Stevens (2016) as the only other All-Freshman Team pick in program history.
Galland is slated to begin his summer with the Harwich Mariners of the Cape League.
